Just a short drive takes you to the market town of Spilsby which sits on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds whilst in the opposite direction is the market town of Wainfleet, home to Batemans Brewery and visitor centre. Just 10 miles from this Thorpe Fendykes cottage is the traditional seaside town of Skegness with lots of family fun to be enjoyed. Thorpe Fendykes is a rural Fenland village with a scattering of farms and cottages surrounded by agricultural fields rich with wildlife. The area offers good cycling and walking terrain along with local fishing. The popular rural market town of Spilsby sits at the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and north of Lincolnshire’s Fenlands. Spilsby features a good range of independent shopping facilities and public houses serving food. Towards the coast is the small market town of Wainfleet with an area known as the ‘Haven’ where Batemans Brewery produces the Wainfleet ale which it supplies to local Lincolnshire pubs. You can take a tour of the Brewery and finish your visit in its restaurant, serving excellent food daily. Close to the town is Wainfleet Marsh which butts onto the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve ’Gibraltar Point’, rich with bird life and where you can enjoy wonderful bracing walks with views over The Wash to Norfolk.
