Location: Algarkirk

Boston 4 miles; Spalding 5 miles

The Lincolnshire Fenland village of Algarkirk is located between the market town of Spalding and the larger town of Boston. This area of Lincolnshire is well known for its agricultural production of vegetables and flowers, and enjoys a wealth of local farm shops selling their own produce. Algarkirk’s church is known locally as the mini-cathedral of the Fens, due to its cathedral-like proportions, and is definitely worthy of a visit. Just 1 mile from Algarkirk is the village of Sutterton offering two village pubs both serving food, two village stores and a fish and chip shop. There are several attractions to visit within easy travelling distance of Algarkirk. Boston offers the largest open air market in Lincolnshire on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the Guildhall museum, Haven Gallery, and good leisure facilities. Heading inland you can visit Tattershall Castle, Grimsthorpe Castle and also within easy reach, vibrant Peterborough with cathedral, museums, art galleries, pathways for walkers and cyclists, and an excellent selection of shopping centres. Just outside Peterborough is the Bronze Age Centre at Flag Fen. Heading easterly, just a 17 mile drive takes you to the attractive Georgian market town of Wisbech where you can visit NT Peckover House, Octavia Hill Musuem, Elgoods Brewery and gardens, and nearby the Welney Wildfowl and Wetland centre. Or visit the historic maritime town of Kings Lynn, offering guided tours around the towns many place of interest and not-to-be-missed Lynn Museum, home to Seahenge. Enjoy a day at the seaside at nearby Skegness or explore the other side of the ‘Wash’ at the seaside town of Hunstanton.
