Location: Upper Broughton

Melton Mowbray 7 miles; Nottingham 14 miles.

Upper Broughton is a small, pretty village with local stone cottages, a village store, Bailey’s family butcher’s, as featured on TV by Jamie Oliver, a public house The Golden Fleece, and good transport links. Upper Broughton is situated just on the outer edge boundary of the Vale of Belvoir (French for ‘beautiful view’), an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, bordering the counties of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. The nearby market town of Melton Mowbray is located in the heart of the East Midlands, and is world-famous for its pork pies, stilton cheese and nowadays its excellent sausage shop. The town is a popular and lively place especially on the market days, Tuesday and Saturday. To fill your days, the surrounding area offers many places of interest to visit, including lovely Rutland Water, where you can enjoy walking, cycling, and water sports. Play a round of golf at the 18-hole golf course at Belton Woods, visit the local castles and stately homes which include Belvoir Castle, Grimsthorpe Castle, NT Belton House, and Burghley House or one of the several museums which include the unusual Framework knitter museum on the outskirts of Nottingham. Further afield, Nottingham is home to the National Water Sports Centre, while Loughborough has great shopping and the Great Central Railway – this great location has something for everybody.
