Location: Swinford, County Mayo

Westport 28 miles; Sligo 35 miles.

Swinford is a market town in County Mayo, located approximately 11 miles from Knock International Airport. Situated on a tributary of the River Moy, Swinford is known for its fishing waters, which include the Callow Lakes (which yield excellent brown trout) and the lakes of Conn and Cullin. It is home to one of Mayo's largest summer festivals with pageantry, ceili dancing and heritage displays depicting many of the traditions of East Mayo. Swinford offers a nine hole golf course, pony trekking and nature walks while, in the evenings, the town’s pubs offer traditional Irish music. A wealth of archaeological sites are within a short drive of the town, and it is an excellent base from which to tour many of Mayo's visitor attractions including Croagh Patrick, Ceide Fields and the Foxford Woollen Mills.
