Gorteen, meaning small garden, is a delightful village in south east County Sligo. There is great Irish music to discover in Gorteen, and with strong ties to the past and tradition, Gorteen is home to the Coleman Irish Music Centre. Nearby 16th century Moygara Castle, which overlooks Lough Gara, provides a wonderful backdrop for a spot of fishing, while the area is home to a host of varying lakes for watersports as well. With many villages and towns on the doorstep, and Galway city only a couple of hours away, Gorteen is a great touring base.
