  • "Just as the other guests have mentioned stairs are awkward in the home but they do have a mind your head sign, which my partner still managed to hit his head once lol."

I found closing the gate awkward, latch was tricky. The host left bottle of bubbly and Welsh cakes and pint of milk which was lovely, but only 2 tea bags for a cottage that sleeps 4 a bit puzzling. All in all lovely place

  • "Spotlessly clean property on the eastern outskirts of Pwllheli but only ½ mile from the centre."

. Pwllheli’s better 3½ mile long Abererch beach is even closer.. Well-furnished to a high, modern standard throughout, it has all the amenities required for a holiday home away from home.. The large bath was a real boon each day after walking sections of the Wales Coast Path. A cup of tea in the generously sized mugs helped too.. Cosy seating area, very large dining table & very comfortable bed – I had no problems falling quickly asleep.. I am 6’ 2” but with a little care, had no issues with two the low headroom openings.. Any queries are responded to promptly & in a friendly manner.. Pwllheli is a great base for using public transport to explore the Llŷn Peninsula and beyond and if I return to Pwllheli, I would not hesitate to check the availability of Awel y Môr.

  • "We had a good week in Pwllheli; the house was clean, comfortable and well equipped."

It is on a busy road, although it’s not really an issue as long as you’re not expecting complete peace and quiet - its location outweighs the traffic noise. Stairs are steep and there are a couple of low openings if you’re less mobile or tall. It’s a shame the back garden hasn’t been renovated yet as that would have made it perfect. Pwllheli has a lovely beach within 5 minutes walk, another huge one around 10 minutes away, a nature reserve, as well as plenty of shops/restaurants. It’s a great base for visiting the Llŷn peninsula and Snowdonia.

The property was lovely and nicer than what we expected. The cottage is a 2 minute walk from the beach and we enjoyed doing some crabbing at the harbour nearby. The shops are a 8 minute walk too. The location is lovely as it's quiet. We had all the facilities we needed for the week and was very surprised at some lovely goodies left for us too. We would recommend this holiday house. We took our paddleboard and spent most days at either Abersoch, Warren beach or the beach close by, I must say we were blessed with wall to wall sunshine for the whole stay which certainly helps.

  • "Excellent value stay."

A well thought-out property with stylish, neutral decoration, kitchen with good supply of crockery, glasses and ovenware if you plan to eat in, and bedrooms with plenty of hanging/drawer space. We found it comfortable and spacious for the size, although there were just the two of us and it was a 2-bed property. The owner kindly provided a nice bottle of Prosecco, milk and the best Welsh cakes I have tasted (from the Pili Palas cafe - we had to go back for more) - much appreciated. The 'patio' is somewhat over-stated in the listing, being 2 chairs and a small table on a small area that overlooks a busy road as well as the promised marina. Pwllheli is a good base to explore the surrounding area, and there is no shortage of beautiful places to visit. A pleasant 10 minute walk along the waterfront from the property takes you into the centre of town, where we had decent takeaways from the fish & chip shop and Indian, and a nice meal at the Whitehall Hotel.

House was spotless, comfortable and welcoming. No probs with stairs, traffic behaved itself and kitchen was wonderful. One only small gripe ~ Old geezers like us had great difficulty in operating the key box due partly to its location behind the palm tree. But only twice, at start and end ! Stan and Jenny

  • "This would have been a 5 star review but for one thing."

The noise from the traffic on the main road to Pwllheli that runs past the property. In every other respect the place was faultless. Location is brilliant (do NOT miss the east beach at Pwllheli behind the national sailing centre, less than 5 minutes walk away), accommodation is extremely well equipped and was spotless. Lovely welcome pack too. On the stairs issue we are 70 years of age and had no problems other than hubbie (who is 6 feet tall) bumping his head a couple of times. But there is a big sign telling visitors to duck, so it was his own fault. The stairs are just steeper than usual because there are fewer risers. So to sum up, a really lovely place... except for the traffic noise.

The cottage is immaculate and very easy to keep clean. Both bedrooms are of a good size with lots of hanging space and drawers. The only downside for my husband and me were the stairs up to the bedrooms and bathroom. They were extremely steep! This wouldn't be a problem for the majority but for elderly, very young and the unfit, I would not recommend it! The bathroom would benefit from a toilet brush but I can fully understand why one hasn't been provided! The cottage is very close to the town, the Marina and beaches. We loved our stay at Awel y Mor and much appreciated the welcome gifts of wine, Welsh cakes and milk. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

The kitchen was super and I even managed to make Christmas dinner!!! Adequate supply of towels and even Prosecco, tea, milk and a Christmas box was left on arrival. All instructions were left and everything was made clear in the disposal of rubbish and what amenities were available locally. The only downside was that the sockets were too low to the floor upstairs making it dificult to use a hairdryer or charge the phone but we managed. All in all a fantastic property.

  • "I don’t normally write reviews of places we have a stayed but I felt compelled to write for this property."

We had booked this before Covid was known about and it was unfortunately postponed until this year, but it was worth the wait. Any concerns we had about cleanliness were quickly dismissed. We always clean surfaces down and wash cutlery and crockery that we need to use during the week when we have stayed in other properties, but didn’t feel the need to do it here. The whole house was spotlessly clean, every surface was dust free and nothing seems to have been missed in the deep clean. I was concerned about the parking situation as ‘on street parking’ tends to mean there’s only a few places for a dozen households, or it’s a 10-minute walk from the property. No issues here, we were able to park directly opposite the house all week. There are plenty of places to visit nearby, Criccieth Castle, Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Beaumaris Castle, but we would recommend going to Aber Falls Whisky (and gin!) distillery. All in all a perfect week away, and the welcoming biscuits and bubbly went down a treat!!

  • "The accommodation itself met our expectations in that it was clean and had most of the things we expected."

There were just some things that we felt could be improved for future visitors. For example, there were no cleaning products so although I had anti bacterial wipes I couldn't clean the oven or the toilet. Also there was no vacuum cleaner so we could not vacuum the carpets. The towel rail was rusty in parts. Lastly, there was a note when we arrived about the TV not working. We had to use a chrome cast which meant downloading apps on our ipad. Whilst this was adequate we did feel that it caused a problem as you could not just browse the television channels. The owners came to look whilst we were there but we felt they could have also tried a different sky box to help identify the pro3. Whilst we managed it was not ideal in the evenings and if we had not been able to use the chrome cast we would only have had 1 TV channel. On the whole we enjoyed the accommodation and felt it was an adequate standard but I felt there were some tweaks which could just enhance visitors stay. That said we were grateful for the prosecco, milk and puzzles.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the inconvenience you experienced with the Sky television during your stay, unfortunately the fault was with the Sky Satellite Dish and not the Sky box itself, we had ordered a new dish which has now arrived and been fitted. Regards. Property Owner

  • "It was very well cleaned, you could smell a hint of bleach on arrival - which was reassuring."

Knowing the cleaner had been extra safe with Covid level cleaning was great and meant we could relax. The prosecco was also very welcome and meant i didn't have to go out shopping on arrival. Thankyou. A nice prosecco too! One thing that would be good to mention on the welcome info is about the heating - we stayed at home one day but the timer didn't come on til 6.30pm so we were quite cold. Didn't want to mess with any timer settings but luckily I did figure out to switch it to 'on'. This also works in reverse – it got very warm at times. The low doorway did catch us out a couple of times but not sure how you resolve that one! The outside space at the front was nice to sit out. All in all, a very nice, warm, secure cottage to stay in in a good location and base for exploring the Lleyn Peninsula.

It was spotless and the owners had taken all reasonable measures to counter Covid19. We marked down 'comfort' (only a little) as the traffic noise was a little intrusive in the early morning. However, with the windows closed we both got good nights' sleeps. We do really love staying there, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is superb, the weather was glorious, parking is easy, it is a super walk by the harbour into town and we loved walking down to the beach and harbour. We are sure that we will make Awel y Mor an annual holiday. Even considering a short winter's break if possible. Thank you for the welcome biscuits and beverages, a lovely touch. We had been worried about traffic noise, being on main road with bedrooms at front, but there was no problem for us with the windows closed at night. Although we would not stay in the heat of the summer. We enjoyed the location with walks round harbour and to the beach and marina. Parking on the road opposite was no problem and there is adequate parking just over the level crossing to the right. Pwllhelli town seemed to grow on us and we loved to meander around. I would say if you are tall (over 5’6) you may find the stairs and kitchen doorway a challenge. But not enough to put you off. If you are travelling with little ones, there is no usable garden at the moment, until summer 2020, so take something to keep them entertained indoors. (No games at the property as listed) We loved the no pet rule, my husband is allergic and we find it more and more difficult to find places where animals have been. Would definitely go again!!!
