"The cottage and its neighbour stand beside a stream, down a short, steep track between Machynleth - where Laura Ashley opened her first shop - and Newtown - where there is still a Laura Ashley factory."
The nearest shops and petrol station are at Carno - the village where Laura Ashley established her first factory and where she is buried.
There are sights to see in every direction. There are long, straight lengths of Roman road in the valleys separated by twisting sections through the hills. You can drive towards the coast at Barmouth, to Dolgellau, to Welshpool or towards the coast at Aberystwyth. Our cottage was always a friendly home on our return.

Garden was perfect for our two dogs to wander in safely. The cottage was well equipped with all the basic necessities needed for your stay. It was great to come back from a day exploring to a nice hot bath, then relax in front of open fire.

"We enjoyed a chilled, peaceful and relaxing holiday in this sweet, cozy little cottage and will definitely stay here again."
The little river was gorgeous (and turned into a torrent after some heavy rain) and the gardens secluded and quiet with plenty of room for our little dogs to run around in safely. Super comfy double bed and the open fire in the lounge were the highlights for me. Good base for exploring the National Park. Went to Barmouth for the first time and fell in love. Lovely place!

"The most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed at!"
Usually we bring a few essentials that are not provided such as oil, salt & pepper, tea, dish liquid and cloths, soap, a decent knife, kitchen roll etc etc but it was all already there.... Thank you! The stream was fantastic to play in and explore, and we enjoyed the garden games. The open fire was lovely, the only thing we longed for was a comfy sofa as the two seater was really only big enough for one to curl up on but there were 3 of us so had to take turns! Although the style of the chairs did suit the cottage and was very nostalgic for me, a big cosy corner sofa would have made evenings much more comfortable. Absolutely loved staying here and hope to revisit. So many beautiful places nearby, stunning walks in Hafren forest, Swim in the lake at Llyn Cau, Beautiful sandy beach at Aberdovey to name a few.
We'd love a bigger sofa, but it wouldn't go in through the door!

Would be hard to fault this wonderful cottage ideal in every way calm and peaceful with only very little road noise wake up then morning coffee out in the beautiful garden watching numerous birds feeding over the crystal clear stream dippers wagtails etc and nuthatches redstarts etc in the woodland not to mention the buzzards soaring high above then later the night sky with no light pollution is amazing the cottage itself is very cosy and has every appliance you could possibly need also lots of things provided that you may just forget to take with you washing up liquid kitchen roll and toilet rolls etc I would also like to thank the owners for the exemplary polite friendly communication needless to say we enjoyed our stay very very much Thank you

"Brilliant place to stay, the garden was fantastic and especially loved by my energetic young toller dog!"
Had some rainy days during our stay, but the garden meant we could still enjoy the outdoors in the little pockets of time the sun was out. If you enjoy being in nature and birdwatching, you'll get a lot here without even having to leave the cottage. A particular highlight was watching the buzzards and hearing their calls. Did have some trouble with the bins, but no fault of the owner. Overall, I'd be keen to come back again sometime.

It was clean, comfortable, cosy, quiet and very well equipped. The addition of some grab rails to help the less able (like myself) in the shower would be very welcome. All in all, though, a place we wouldn't hesitate to recommend and return to.

"Difficult access to the road, also very difficult door lock."
Had to call the owner three times for . instructions otherwise a most enjoyable stay.
We would like to point out that guests are asked to contact us 48 hours before they go so that we can explain access to them. This gentleman did not ring until he was outside the property so we had not discussed it with him.
Having said this we are always very happy to help if anyone does have problems and calls us.

"We went away with our Lakeland Terrier Teddy and he loved the garden, he could roam where he wanted to and then we would put him on his lead through the small gate and down to the stream."
The Cottage itself is amazing, everything you could need, a complete home from home. Even getting up and down the steep drive was fun.
Make sure you visit Aberdovey Beach, go on the steam train at Talyllyn Railway and the market at Machynlleth on a Wednesday, but most of all just sit outside listening to the stream watching the squirrels and relaxing.
We will stay here again 5 stars.

Everything you need is there and comprehensive instruction folder for any questions you have. Owner very friendly and spoke to her before I went and she also text whilst I was there to check we were okay. Our doggie loved the enclosed garden. It is a bit hairy getting out of the drive, so would benefit from a mirror, but that’s the only problem I found! Just bliss!

You couldn't sit and see the brook for stinging nettles so not quite like you described it.
We had to take the rubbish up the drive on Tues evening the boxes were very heavy and not even are rubbish as only arrived on Monday.
The cottage was comfy but a bit old fashioned and needed airing, but despite all this we had a lovely time plenty to see. Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge to see the falls .Machynlleth market on weds, lovely meal in Number Twenty One Bistro. Powis Castle and Gardens well worth a visit a good day out. Then stopped at the Aleppo Merchant Inn for a meal lovely home made and delicious. Aberdyfi and Tywyn lovely beaches for walking and shell collecting. Stopped at the Dolgoch Falls lots of climbing but well worth it.

"We arrived at the property, it hadn't been aired it smelt like a musty caravan, dishes, cup's, cutlery had to be washed before we could use as inside cupboards haven't been cleaned in a while, the TV wasn't working so I contacted the owner who knew there was a problem and told us to bang the scart lead into the back of the TV as fixings not very good, I wasn't happy about this but did as asked by the owner, eventually the TV worked properly, after 2 hours of messing with it, the mini oven had grease in it I had to clean before using, the cottage is beautiful and the surrounding garden is beautiful, just needs a thorough clean between lettings."

"This is a lovely little cottage and I love the garden and brook that runs along the bottom."
It is not too far from the amazing beaches of mid Wales at Barmouth, Tywyn and Aberdyfi and the nearest town of Machinleth is also very nice with a big Co op and some shops and nice pubs to eat in. We couldn't find any walks straight from the cottage and if you are a hiker be warned that we found that the local farmers blocked the rights of way. We got blocked right at the start of two walks we tried. One of which was in a book we purchased the day before. Otherwise though, a lovely place to visit and explore.

Good base if you are happy to drive for days out as no local areas to walk to. Driveway was not a steep as expected but found it easier to turn right and if you need to go left drive a bit further up the road and turn car around. Would certainly recommend this cottage as a place to stay.
