Fairbourne 3 miles; Dolgellau 7 miles; Aberdovey 18 miles.

The hamlet of Arthog is situated on the lower reaches of the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, which runs from the renowned seaside town of Barmouth to the outskirts of delightful Dolgellau which nestles beside the foothills of one of Wales' most spectacular mountains, Cader Idris. One of the most popular walks in Wales passes through Arthog: the 4.5 mile nature walk along the Estuary, ideal for birdwatching. Close by, the village resort of Fairbourne boasts a safe sandy beach with rock pools at either end of a two mile stretch of golden sands. The famous narrow gauge steam railway runs through, journeying through awe-inspiring scenery, to a small ferry carrying foot passengers to Barmouth.
