We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this cottage in Llwyngwril. The proprieters were very friendly and helpful people. We were welcomed on the first day with welsh cakes and welsh marmalade set out on the kitchen table and a local paper. The cottage was very nicely furnished and comfortable, it was only a short walk from the village where there was an excellent pub serving very good food which we visited every evening. We went out in our car every day along the coast line.Though there are a lot of nice walks in and around Llwyngwril, we were not able to do the walks as we only stayed one week and wanted to explore more places of interest.Unfortunately the petrol station locally was shut down so we had to make sure we had enough petrol on our travels each day. We favoured Snowdonia area more, never having visited North Wales before, therefor we would have liked the cottage to have been a bit further north, as it was quite a distance to travel each day to get to places of interest. We would certainly recommend the cottage to anyone.
Dolgellau 11 miles; Aberdovey 12 miles.
Llwyn Du is a delightful tiny hamlet of three houses, reached via a short, private lane within the pretty village of Llwyngwril, inside the Snowdonia National Park. This coastal village rests quietly at the edge of the River Gwril, nestling between the splendour of the Snowdonia Mountains and the stunning golden beaches of the Cardigan Bay coastline. With its 16th Century church, pleasant pub, well reputed Gallery Cafe and picturesque riverside setting, it offers excellent walks and boasts a variety of wild flowers and many species of birds that flock to the area's sheltered beaches and rock pools. Take a trip on the narrow gauge railway from the nearby beautiful sandy beach at Fairbourne, to the sweeping sand dunes at Barmouth. Discover the renowned towns of Dolgellau and Aberdovey, and visit the magnificent sights of medieval Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park, all within a short drive. With plenty to see and do, this is a fantastic all year round holiday location.

Previous visitors' comments about The Stone Barn:
A lovely cottage, very clean and snug - we all had a great break.
Mrs Barnes, Dymock, August 2010
The Stone Barn is an outstanding cottage, very comfortable and well-equipped (lovely decor too). It's in a good position to explore most of Snowdonia, whether you want days in the mountains or on the beach. The owners are so unobtrusive we never actually met them, but the 'welcome pack' of cakes and jam was much appreciated after a long drive! All in all, one of the best cottages we've stayed in, and in an area we all very definitely want to return to.
Mr Kingsbury-Barker, London, August 2010
Aberdovey worth a visit. Lovely family resort. Take a ride on the Cambrian Coast Railway and book a ride on the Snowdon Railway also.
Mrs Bond, Crawley, June 2010
A very nice little cottage in a beautiful area. The walk behind the cottage is great - with a truly stunning view over Cardigan Bay.
