It's such a tranquil stay. The lake is beautiful and the surrounding area and walks are lovely. So much wildlife to appreciate. Ursula is really accommodating without being intrusive - she will welcome you you the cottage (we were generously treated to lovely cakes, flowers and a bottle of bubbly!) and see you off at the end. The cottage itself is so comfortable and spacious, and well-equipped with everything you need. The fireplace is lovely and warm, and plenty of logs are supplied. Definitely worth staying at Hendre!

The Railway pub is a short walk away across a bridge over the River Tanat and then across a field and does excellent food including Vegan also the local shop is very good as well, it was a bit chilly on a nighttime but the Log fire kept us so cozy, we would sit there watching the Bats flying outside the windows. Thanks to Ursula and her family for making our holiday so special, Mark and Emma.

The lake attracts a lot of bird life spotted fly catcher. Woodpecker. Hobby. Swifts. Swallows etc which we loved watching sat out on the patio the views are stunning. The weather was excellent allowing us to do some local walks with stunning scenery. Lake Vyrnwy and Bala Lake are a must we kayaked on both the walks and scenery also stunning. • "This property, its owners and its surroundings are all equally wonderful."

Ursula met us on arrival and we were treated to a bottle of bubbly and delicious home-made treats. The first thing to catch our attention was the huge private lake which sits right outside the property. With dozens of species of birds, including the moorhen, the pied wagtail and a grouse, the place is constantly buzzing with wildlife. The layout and setup of the property are great - you can sit at the kitchen window, looking out onto the lake, or get cosy in front of the fire. A handy utility room and a garage that you can use for storage make the stay even more convenient, as do all of the kitchen utensils - we wanted for nothing! There are some beautiful footpaths in the area, mostly all of which are very accessible. This included a bridge over the local river just down the road. Other than the background noise of the nearby main road, the place is absolute tranquillity. At the end of the stay, Ella (Ursula's daughter) saw us off with a smile. We will definitely look to come back to Hendre again sometime soon.

The hosts are wonderful. On arrival we were met by the owner Ursula, who showed us around the bungalow, and gave us a bottle of Prosecco and some cakes, which were made by her daughter Ela which were absolutely delicious. We met Ela later on. Both of these ladies are so accommodating and kind. The bungalow has every facility you would need and was exceptionally clean and in all respects very comfortable. There are seats available in the garage which we used on occasion to sit out in the garden where you can overlook their private lake When we were there we had a lot of rain but that did not spoil our holiday as we were decidedly in need of a rest and we enjoyed reading and having to stay in the property was a bonus. We did get out at times and we visited the Dingle Gardens and the Derwent Garden Centre both of which are near Welshpool and are worth visiting. We also went to Bala which we have been to many times before and we can recommend Y Cynfod, an Italian Cafe - Restaurant where we had lovely meals. Could we recommend other people making a booking at Hendre? Absolutely!!

.. It was a perfect location for us with some lovely local walks from the doorstep with both Oswestry Shrewsbury and Welshpool nearby and the coast within a 1 hours drive to barmouth and a little further to llandudno...Lake Bala and Lake Vrnwy and the biggest waterfalls of Wales are very close and easily accessible. Amenities include locally cooked takeaways, local pub, post office and general store with daily freshly made sandwiches and cookies on offer... Ursula and Huw who are the owners have gone to great lengths to ensure you get a 5 star service and their attention to detail is simply magical. The lake views comes with a resident pheasant who comes to the door...we nicknamed him Percy. At the lake there is an abundance of bird species such as Siskins, Chaffinches, blue tits, long tailed tits, great tits, an owl which we heard only and red kites over the hills to the left and front of the house, a robin and wren and the most melodious blackbirds and more.. Water fowl visitors included a Canadian goose, mallards some small coots and small red billed chicks. The cottage oozes love and warmth and is a reflection of its owners eye for detail and their own love and warmth too. The cottage itself was very spacious, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The lake in the grounds is spectacular we took our 5 year old foster son and he loved pond dipping for tadpoles, identifying the many birds that came to the lake and watching the lambs in all the surrounding fields. The highlight of his holiday was when Ursula and Ella brought one of their lambs and a bottle of milk for him to feed it with. We would definitely recommend a stay at Hendre and hope to return.

The peace and views are wonderful and just what we needed. The weather wasn’t as kind to us and we weren’t able to make use of the outside space as much as we would have liked plus we had the fuel crisis while we were in Wales but thankfully it did not impact us and we were able to do our sightseeing. We forgot to pack our binoculars which was annoying as we were sure we were watching red kites and buzzards soaring daily over the mountains. Ursula and family have made a wonderful holiday home and are on hand if you need anything. We will be back and hope we have the weather to sit outside and watch nature do it’s thing. Ella’s baking is a lovely touch which was very much enjoyed by us.

On arrival, we were given a very warm welcome by the owner, Ursula, and her daughter Ela, and very much enjoyed the bottle of Prosecco and tray-bakes (home baked by Ela) which awaited us in the dining kitchen. The cottage itself is very spacious, ideal for 4 but there were only 3 of us so lots of room. It is set in its’ own grounds overlooking a lake with a lovely patio and table and chairs where we spent many hours, relaxing, talking, bird-spotting and enjoying the antics of the ducks and coots on the lake. The interior of the cottage is very pretty, attractive, and comfortable and contains absolutely everything one could want in a holiday home. The surrounding countryside is lovely and ideal for walking as is the village. Lots of places to visit nearby, including the British Iron Museum and Port Meirion. On three evenings during our week, we walked down the lane into the village (0.7 miles) where we were served delicious meals and received a very friendly welcome from the staff at the Railway Inn (give them a call to reserve a table). Everything was charming. Our lovely stay at “Hendre” was a very welcome break from the Covid traumas of the last 18 months. Many thanks to Ursula and her family. It was simply magic.

It was well situated in a quiet area just outside the Snowdonia national park and most of Snowdonia could be reached within an hour or so's drive. We visited, Bala lake, Port Merrion, The Fforrest Coaster (great fun if you don't brake), and some nice off road cycle trails. There's a friendly pub in the village which has an excellent well priced menu (walking distance if you're feeling energetic and it's light). The owners were very welcoming and friendly.
