  • "Beautiful and tranquil!"

Red Kite lodge is a real gem in the heart of Mid-Wales. The lodge is beautifully kept and equipped, set in a beautiful location where you can relax, unwind, enjoy the view of the neighbouring hills and regular visits from the farm animals. Every morning, my wife and I were greeted by alpacas, goats, sheep and chicken trying to enamour us into giving them a treat. Suffice to say they were successful most of the time. The hot tub and log burner are real highlights. This will not be our last stay at Manor Farm Lodges!

  • "Myself and my husband stayed in red kite lodge for a mini break and we couldn't have asked for a better experience."

Upon arrival we were a little confused at first as sykes cottages had provided us with a key code but no other instructions, so we did spend a good few minutes looking around outside for a place where keys might be stored, until I tried the door and found it was open anyway. When we got inside it was evident it was going to be a lovely stay as the lodge was immaculately clean. We had brought a few things that we may have needed but there was no need as many things were provided for us including tea, coffee, sugar, hand wash, washing up liquid, shampoo, body wash and towels, and a well stocked cupboard of various pots and pans, cutlery, bowls, different size plates you name it, it was there. You could tell a lot of effort had gone into making the lodge as homely as possible and the bread, milk and cake was a nice welcome too. We met Julie on our first night and Kev on our last night as they come around each day to check the hot tub, they were both very friendly and welcoming, and both let us know they were available if we needed anything which was nice. The hot tub was definitely one of our highlights, it was all set up ready to go and was the perfect temperature and because it is undercover we could use it even though the weather wasn't great. The animals are quite literally on your door step, and come upto the lodge every morning (at many other times throughout the day) bellowing at you to feed them haha! You only had to walk outside and they all come running which was funny to see but so adorable, those goats and alpacas sure can eat! And they wasn't the only animals, they have wooly sheep but they mostly kept to themselves, was nice to watch them though. We also had a random cat come to the lodge, absolutely gorgeous but took a serious liking to us and kept trying to come inside for hours on end, it soon gave up when we went to bed. Sadly the only downside was the WiFi was very hit and miss, it was fine for casually scrolling on our phones but we were unable to make full use of the streaming services due to buffering issues, but that was literally the only negative of the place and wasn't that big a deal to us really, just a point to note. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful break. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer, but next time we hope to stay at least a week and in spring/summer time so we can enjoy the surrounding areas a bit more.

The facilities were excellent in every respect and I can confidently say we wanted for nothing. The resident animals are awesome, each having their own presonality and coming to visit every day. The local villiage and it's residents and warm and welcoming and we felt like part of their community. The Bull & Heifer get's a special mention for the quality of it's food which was outstanding. I could go on & on but simply put the best compliment I could pay would be to simply say "We will be back!" !!!

So much to do in the area . The bull and heifer pub serves the most amazing food and the staff are so friendly . I’d highly recommend this place and the owners are such lovely people . • "I honestly can’t rate Manor Farm Lodges and the Red Kite Lodge highly enough."

I absolutely loved every second there. The lodge is clean, tidy, well equipment with absolutely everything you could need and we were welcomed with a beautiful lemon cake, break and milk so we could have a cuppa and cake the minute we arrived. The views are spectacular! Even in the rain, because of the under covered area, we could still sit outside and enjoy it all or chill out in the well maintained hot tub. The goats, alpacas, sheep and chickens came over for food every day. Provided by Julie & Kev, our hosts who we couldn’t have asked for better. Friendly, helpful and quick to respond when we had a question. We had a couple of trips down the hill to the pub, The Bull & Heifer, which had one of the nicest Sunday Roasts I’ve had in a long time. (Booking essential). As animals lovers I personally couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to stay and I will 100% be booking to go back again. There are loads of things to do within around an hours drive and despite the weather being a bit rubbish we had an awesome week and that was all down to the location and set up of the lodges. You have so much privacy and it has to be one of the most tranquil places I’ve been. Thank you again to Julie and Kev, you have thought it all out perfectly. It is a very special place you have there.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Red Kite cottage."

It was tastfully decorated, private and had high quality fixtures and fittings. We liked the hot tub especially and the log burner and made the most of them during our stay. We loved the cake, it was polished off very quickly! thankyou for the bread and milk as well. I have given a four for comfort as the springs of the bed in the large bedroom were a bit uncomfortable and were squeaky, you could feel them during the night, the comfort of the smaller bed was much better. The sofa was a bit hard for us but we are used to a soft fabric sofa which is personal choice. Overall a wonderful stay in a beautiful rural location. We found the information folder very useful and visited some of the recommendations including Powis Castle and the red kite feeding lake, we enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at the local Bull and Heifer pub. We think it is good value for money and would return. We will definatly recommend to friends and family.

Julie and Kev are the perfect hosts and have gone above and beyond to make our holiday extra special, including a delicious chocolate cake, bread and milk, on arrival. Red Kite Lodge is so comfortable, a real home from home. It has everything you could need and has been beautifully designed. We have loved feeding Ed, Bob and Tom (the alpacas) everyday with digestive biscuits and carrots, playing archery and Kev’s trip to visit the horses was just amazing. A hidden gem, with so many wonderful places to visit in mid Wales, we can’t wait to return! Both the beaches and countryside are spectacular. The children have loved every minute of it, especially having their own private hot tub on the veranda, surrounded by spectacular views of the beautiful Welsh countryside. It has been, by far, the best UK holiday we have ever had. Many thanks to Julie and Kev for being such great hosts and for helping us to create happy holiday memories.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner’s, on arrival we forgot butter, asked Kevin where nearest shop was and he appears at the door with butter in hand !! We all used the hot tub every day which was so relaxing and made the stay feel special. The cabin was so comfortable with good mattresses sofas and loved reading in the outside egg chair. We were lucky with the weather as mainly dry but as decking had a roof we sat out even when it rained. The cabin felt in the middle of nowhere which made it feel in a bubble away from Covid. This is the ideal escape to the country for families and friends looking to tour a lovely part of Wales, a stone's throw from the English border with the Shropshire towns and villages within easy reach.

Entrance is gained through the utility area, where you have space to kick off your shoes and hang up your coats, while the handy washer, tucked under a unit, comes in useful after a long, muddy walk through verdant countryside.

Spend quality time with your loved ones in the open-plan living room and unwind into your evening by the woodburner, which keeps you toasty and warm during the winter season.

You can rustle up a family feast in the kitchen and get together around the dining table before reclining in front of the TV as the evening draws in.

Throw open the patio doors to the decking on a summer's day and absorb that peaceful, countryside atmosphere as a cool breeze fills the indoor space.

With part of the enclosed decking having a glass balustrade, you can admire the countryside views right from the sitting area - the owners really have thought of everything!

The king-size double offers a lovely, country feel with lots of attention to detail, bedside tables and lamps as well as a wall-mounted TV.

You have Jack-and-Jill access to the family shower room, which also acts as an en-suite to the twin bedroom.

This has zip/link beds, which can be made up into a super king-size double for couples, or left as a twin for those traveling with children or friends.

Sit out on the decking one balmy afternoon and enjoy a refreshing beverage as you drink in the luscious, green scenery surrounding you with views towards the lakes in the distance.

Alternatively, dip in the hot tub and ooze in a spot of luxury as a fine summer's evening draws out and you can make the most of this serene setting.

There is plenty to see and do in terms of walking and cycling in the area, with clay pigeon shooting and quad biking opportunities also available.

Head to the town of Montgomery, which offers a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with the ruins of its 13th-century castle, while Bishop's Castle, across the border, offers live music and festivals the year-round.

Spend a day exploring Cardigan Bay exploring the wonderful beaches or drive up to the Snowdonia National Park for many outdoor activities including water sports, caving, climbing and bird watching.
