Pennal Cottage is a lovely property near the village of Knockin in Shropshire.

This holiday home boasts countryside views to admire, a woodburning stove in the sitting room, and a hot tub in the front garden, making it more than ideal for a family looking to enjoy a getaway.

As you walk in through the stable door, step into the welcoming porch where there’s plenty of space to hang up your coats, kick off your shoes, and leave the day behind before entering the sitting room.

Sit back into one of the sofas as you let the woodburning stove warm up the room.

As you enter holiday mode, flick on the Smart TV to find something to watch.

Once you finish your show, and if you want to, the kitchen will be shouting your name to cook up something delicious.

Use the electric oven and induction hob before plating it up on the dining table for everyone to tuck in.

After the food has settled, go outside to take in some sunshine on the furniture or change into some swimwear for a dip in the hot tub.

Wave away the sunset and clink your drinks before coming back indoors when the night sky beckons.

Call it a night on either the super-king, king or double bed.

After some rest, start the day off right with a soak in the bath or a refreshing shower.

A pub is a short walk away for a meal or a drink, with shops a little drive away for some essentials.

With the canal on your doorstep, have an idyllic family walk along it before going to view the Shropshire Sculpture Park, or visit the Llanymynech Heritage Area with your dogs loving life.

In Oswestry, you can take in the stunning views of Cae Glas Park, see some animals to get the kids excited at Park Hall The Countryside Experience, and see the fantastic Oswestry Castle.

Slightly further afield in Shrewsbury, visit the military museum at Shrewsbury Castle, be in awe at the flying creatures on show at the Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre or treat yourself at the gin bar at the Market Hall.

KNOCKIN

Oswestry 7 miles; Shrewsbury 15 miles.

The historic village of Knockin is conveniently located between the lovely town of Shrewsbury and the market town of Oswestry and is close to the England/Wales border. The village was once part of the Bradford Estate and is home to the 12th century St. Mary’s Church, the Bradford Arms pub, which serves good food, and the renowned village store amusingly called “The Knockin Shop”. The village is an ideal base for touring all of beautiful Shropshire and Mid Wales, including trips to medieval Ludlow, Church Stretton, known as “Little Switzerland”, delightful Lllangollen, with its white water rafting, and the wonderful Lake Vyrnwy and Bala Lake. There are excellent walking and cycling opportunities along the Montgomery Canal and Offa’s Dyke Pathway and both are close by. Visitors to the area can also enjoy Whittington, Powis and Chirk castles and the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge, with its ten museums. This is an ideal base for exploring the whole of Shropshire and deep into Wales.
