The cottage is lovely.Perfect peace and quiet location.Superb wildlife. We would have liked a parasol umbrella as advertised in Sykes pictures because the weather was very hot and it prevented us from using the outdoor benches, there was not a parasol. However the decking area was superb with a nice shaded area. The only other point was there were no opening windows on the main living room viewing window area, this created a build up of continuous flies with the sun and heat and we had to shut the curtains for long periods of time.which was a nightmare so we did not use the dining table under the window which also made it a little awkward when eating but i am sure Tom will do something about this as he is a nice guy.In all a fantastic holiday & property was great.Thank you.

Nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived we had a bottle of Prosecco and Welsh cakes waiting for us! Also some milk in the fridge. It was kitted out with all the silver wear you would need for a short stay. The beds were comfy and it’s a lot bigger than it looks on the photos. The floor plan of the main living area is more open plan also you can see your family members in the kitchen from the lounge so it’s not separate. It worked perfectly for us! The views from all around were stunning. The fire was delightful, we would definitely return here. 10/10. Thankyou!!!

  • "Beautiful setting and cottage."

The photos don't do it justice of how large it actually is. It's set on a working sheep farm with the owner living behind the cottage. This doesn't take from the quiet solitude of the place. It was lovely to see the sheep and other animals that Mr Jones has. We did have a few issues with heating this was sorted out for us, as soon as able too. These things can happen. Also the zip link single beds not made up into large double on our arrival; this was Sykes who made the mistake, in not letting Mr Jones know. I had specifically asked them twice. Therefore we had to wait two nights before this was rectified by Mr Jones' cleaner, resulting in 2 uncomfortable nights for my brother, who isn't used to sleeping in a single bed. We chose this cottage specifically for 3 double beds. One bedroom right at the end with ensuite does have a hard mattress, it may suit some people, as we all have different preferences. Unfortunately, it made for a restless, sleepless time for one of my party. I can't complain as I had the memory foam bed and slept great. All in all though, I thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful cottage and the scenic setting. It is a distance out from most places, but if you want tranquility and a beautiful outlook then it's well worth it. Great to stare out at the stars at night too, and hear the owls hooting. Mr Jones is a lovely man, who really tries to help with any issues. We did have milk, barabrith and Welsh cakes awaiting us; just make sure you bring along tea, coffee and sugar; as we then had to nip out to Tregaron to the local store to get some, after an exhausting 6 hour journey. We are used to places that give you some to start off with. This could be the new rules at the moment, with what's taking place, and Welsh laws may be different, (as we've been holidaying in England, since this pandemic) We've not come across this in our other stays. Just to mention - Don't listen to Google maps as it'll take you to the wrong place, it's the next one along or before it, depending on which way you're coming in. I'd happily recommend staying here. Thank you Mr Jones, for all your help, and allowing my pets to holiday with me too; I hope to come back one day.

We queried the price before we booked as family member has seen cottage at a different price on Sykes website. When I “ chatted “to one your colleagues , I was told it was because of events in the area. When questioned of events, the events in question were many miles away from cottage , so feel this was just an excuse. Have used Sykes many times before but don’t think I would use again. About the location

PONTRHYDFENDIGAID

Tregaron 5.5 miles; Devil’s Bridge 9 miles; Aberystwyth 16 miles.

Pontrhydfendigaid is a small village in Mid Wales between Devil’s Bridge and Tregaron. The village lies on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains in beautiful countryside. It sits on the River Teifi and his home to a local shop and two nearby pubs, the Red Lion and the Black Lion. Devil's Bridge has been a tourist attraction for centuries and was celebrated by author George Borrow who wrote Wild Wales in 1854. This famous bridge spans the Mynach, a tributary of the River Rheidol and is unique as it is actually three bridges in one, the original built around 1100, the second above this in 1753 and the third in 1903. The bridge is at a point where the River Mynach drops 90 metres (300 ft) in 5 steps down a steep and narrow ravine before it meets the River Rheidol. The set of stone steps leading down to the lowest bridge at the waterfall are known as Jacob's Ladder. The attraction offers viewing points and after the steep walk there is a hotel and cafe for refreshments. This whole area boasts stunning scenery and wildlife and is renowned for walking, cycling, fishing and bird watching as well as trips to the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline with its wild cliffs and sandy beaches.
