A few miles away, Montgomery is a small town steeped in history, with many timber-framed houses, cobbled streets and the ruins of a 13th century hill-top castle which provides panoramic views over Wales. There are more than a dozen individual shops and a good variety of pubs and restaurants, which make Montgomery a pleasant place for a day or night out. This whole border region is renowned for its wonderful scenic countryside and excellent walks.
