Knockin

Oswestry 7 miles; Shrewsbury 15 miles.

The historic village of Knockin is conveniently located between the lovely town of Shrewsbury and the market town of Oswestry and is close to the England/Wales border. The village was once part of the Bradford Estate and is home to the 12th century St. Mary’s Church, the Bradford Arms pub, which serves good food, and the renowned village store amusingly called “The Knockin Shop”. The village is an ideal base for touring all of beautiful Shropshire and Mid Wales, including trips to medieval Ludlow, Church Stretton, known as “Little Switzerland”, delightful Lllangollen, with its white water rafting, and the wonderful Lake Vyrnwy and Bala Lake. There are excellent walking and cycling opportunities along the Montgomery Canal and Offa’s Dyke Pathway and both are close by. I enjoyed the peace and a very good area for walking. The accommodation was at a high standard and good value for money.

Rev Tricker, Merthyr Tydfil, August 2013
