  • "We had a nice stay at larch grove."

The house was lovely and warm which was good after a very long journey ( we come from Dorset). We had everything we needed and we got our white Christmas which was the whole point of the trip. Now to the down sides, the house is advertised as dog friendly which meant you could take your fur babies. It’s not until you pay in full you get information on your holiday. Your dogs can join you BUT they are not allowed on the furniture, they can not go upstairs and if you want to go out without your dogs they have to be left outside in the dog kennel. We have a pug and a chug who are used to having cuddles in the evenings, they also sleep with us in our room. It caused them to be stressed so one of us had to sleep downstairs with them, had we got the information straight away we wouldn’t have booked the cottage. The bathroom is lovely but the bath is not the easiest to get into, the sides are high and with it being a key shaped bath it’s hard to manoeuvre as there is a massive shower screen which I actually smacked into the basin a few whilst trying to get in and out. I also have some cracking bruises as I’m only 5ft 1 because I found it difficult to get in/out because of the high sides and the shower screen. My last gripe was that it’s easy to miss, we actually drove up and down the road 3 times before we found the cottage, it was easily missed in the dark and it is very tight drive way. You could easily turn a car round in the parking spot but anything bigger you end up doing an Austin powers (if u know the films u will know what I mean) turn. Luckily my husband is a very good driver cause if I had to do it there probably wouldn’t be a fence there any longer.

  • "The cottage was lovely and warm and cozy, we didn't feel the need to light the woodburner even though it was - 2 some nights."

The gardens were really nice and had lots of birds visiting the feeders including great spotted woodpeckers and pheasants. The kitchen had everything you would need and it was nice to have a half and half fridge freezer. The bathroom was lovely and the shower powerful and hot, but you need to hold the shower head down first to get the pressure up but then it was fine... My only disappointment with the bathroom was the keyhole bath as being a slightly larger lady I could only just fit in the bath at the narrow end.... The bed in the king-size room definitely needs a new mattress as when you lie on it you meet in the middle and when one of us turned over we nearly bounced the other one out of the bed so after one night we had to move to the double bed which was comfortable but a bit snug... The only other gripe I have is that when you book somewhere that says its dog friendly and then when you get there find rules stating that they can't go on the furniture or upstairs which for some people might be an issue if their dogs have separation anxiety... On the whole it was a pleasant stay and was a good base to explore the cairngorms.

  • "Overall we enjoyed our stay at larchgrove, lovely spacious house and garden which the dogs thoroughly enjoyed and set in a stunning location."

The house was very warm and clean, the beds were comfy, the hot water was hot but as its supplied from a hot water tank you have to use it sparingly when taking a bath/shower, the driveway is a bit tight if you drive a big car. The only negative is the traffic noise from the road with trucks going past in the night which we noticed as we live in a cul-de-sac but it may not bother you if you live on a main road. The house is well equipped, there was everything we needed for the week and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

It was only then I found out it was approximately 20 miles from where I wanted, if I knew beforehand I wouldn’t have booked the property, you take the money but don’t give an accurate location of the property, out of order to be honest.

  • "Fabulous property."

.. very spacious, loved coming back from long walk and resting in the conservatory and spending evenings on comfy settees in living room. Pleased to say that shower in bathroom was very powerful and beds comfortable. My only recommendation would be to supply summer weight duvets as ones supplied were more of a winter weight. Would definitely recommend.

  • "We had a fantastic week staying at Larchgrove."

A beautiful home with absolutely everything you could need, including an insulated dog kennel for if you want to head out without your furry friends for dinner. The garden was perfect for our dogs who loved the little woodland garden. The grounds were snow covered on our arrival, which thrilled the children who sledged down the front garden on the sledge provided! We visited Aviemore, the Lecht (where the children loved an impromptu ski lesson), the reindeer herd and Loch Morlich. The cottage was perfect for us. Far enough out of the way for us to totally wind down before Christmas. We will be back!

  • "Larchgrove was situated in a beautiful part of Scotland."

The cottage offered everything we had hoped for and our dogs enjoyed the many stunning walks we took them on. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. We did however find that the main shower did not work and there was little power in the flexible shower head. The pipes and upstairs radiator in the first bedroom up the stairs were noisy . It sounded like there was air in the pipes. That being said , all in all ,our weeks break at Larchgrove was a peaceful ,relaxing one and we would return .

Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the shower, but it is due to the low water pressure; the shower gets air locked. We do have the resolution in the guide book; it just needs the shower head placed in the bath to get the water flowing. It can then be replaced and works as normal. Property Owner

The garden is a nice addition to have whilst on holiday, there are lots of fruit trees, so we took a few apples home with us. There are loads of birds to watch, it was nice to sit in the conservatory in the evening and hear owls all around us. We loved it and would stay here again.

  • "Great house with amazing garden with grass, woodland and sweeping views."

We stayed as a family of four plus dog. A really good location, plenty to do, walks, rivers, woods and lochs, Granton and Aviemore not too far. The garden was not enclosed enough for our dog, had to keep on a lead which was a shame, but, minor issue. We'd stay again for sure. In response to some other reviews: yes, the drive turn in is tricky at first, but, after day 1 we were fine with either turning round further up to come in as a right turn, or, just swinging out and then turning in left (we have estate car length). Really not a problem and mirror opposite for turning out from the house.

Had everything we needed and more. Felt a homely place as when we first walked around. A home from home. Getting into the drive from the main road wasrather tight especially with a bigger car, easier to go and turn a the T junction and come in from the other direction.

  • "Quaint little cottage that heated up nicely after a chilly start!"

Beds are super comfortable, in fact more comfortable than the one at home!! The shower over p-shaped bath was fantastic…really good pressure and bathroom and separate loo were clean. Wood burner was great and heated the living room beautifully. The aga in the kitchen boosted that more and was also great. The central heating was spot on. The conservatory was like an ice block the whole week, but, we were there in Mid January but I can imagine we’d have sat in there most of the time if it was warmer. Garden is secure and we had no issues with our two dogs who are very inquisitive. Kitchen was well equipped and clean, although as I mentioned to the owners, the knives were/are very blunt but they have said they will get that sorted. The separate room off the kitchen with a washing machine and tumble dryer was great, although check your load after a few minutes as the water pressure can ‘error’ the machine as it has not got enough water, turn it off and turn it on again and then it’s fine. We took a bedside lamp from each bedroom and took them downstairs, one to the lounge and one to the dining room as the main lights were too bright for us, this then gave the perfect lighting for us. Downsides for us was the road was pretty busy with trucks (for the distillery) and cars generally, not to the point of arghhh but much busier than expected. The drive is tight for bigger vehicles, we found the ‘easiest’ way to get up was reversing but that was tricky at points due to traffic. If you take your dogs or you’re a smoker please ensure you walk the grounds before you leave to pick up your dog mess…we picked up loads of old poops that were obviously not our boys and so many cigarette butts outside the conservatory. Sad that there are some that have no respect! Would we stay here again, probably not, but that is choice not because of anything to do with the cottage.

15/20 minutes by car to Aberlour city when you can find different local amenities. The house was comfortable and clean. We loved conservatory,  great place to have a coffee in the morning and to play board games in the evening. The only thing I would say is that people who are staying there for holidays should ensure that they put bins out when they're being collected. They're clearly not emptied often as when we arrived most of the bins outside were full. Overall, I really recommend this place ;)

We really enjoyed exploring the Glenlivet estate and this was a perfect base for doing that. The house was very clean and comfortable. The garden was lovely. We loved sitting in the conservatory. We found the parking was ok with enough room to turn around. There is a lot of loud traffic going past (a lot of tractors) but in between it is completely silent.

In a great location, lots to see and do nearby. We visited Ballindalloch Castle, Glenlivet Brewery, Aberlour, Tomintoul, Grantown on Spey, Craggan outdoor activity center and Brodie Castle. The house had lots of space for our family (2 adults and 2 kids). Loved the conservatory, great space for playing board games with the kids and relaxing. Mattresses could do with being upgraded and need blinds/curtains fitted on the bedroom windows, we managed to use towels and blankets but it wasn’t ideal. Otherwise we had a lovely stay and a fantastic holiday in a beautiful part of Scotland.

  • "The cottage is very old and set in an extremely beautiful garden which is basically the side of a hill."

Absolutely not suitable for the elderly or disabled and that is not made clear in the description. It is comfortable and clean but I had a problem with the refuse bins which were already full to overflowing on my day of arrival and situated outside the conservatory. It was 5 days before they were due to be emptied and I was expected to pull them down the steep driveway across the road, which I did. Looking at the amount of rubbish I doubt the previous holidaymakers had bothered for a month. Only 1 tea towel a available, no spare bin liners for the kitchen bin. The extremely good shower over the bath did not have a non slip mat to stand on so I had to go and purchase one. Take provisions with you as nearest shop is a 20 mile round trip.
