  • "Cottage had everything."

In a great location, close to places to eat and drink without having to drive after a day exploring Moray and Aberdeenshire. Comfortable beds, like lying on a cloud. Grandson had a great time with the toys supplied in cottage. Will definitely return.

Very well equipped and a lovely welcome basket on arrival. Quiet street within walking distance of local shop, pub, chip shop (excellent fish supper) and Chinese. Nice walks to harbour and neighbouring towns/villages. Would stay again.

Accurately described house. Lovely welcome pack - much appreciated. Would have liked to be able to open downstairs bedroom windows - may have just been stuck, but didn't want to use too much force!

! Great position on a quiet road with parking outside. As you enter it is beautifully clean and well presented. The bedrooms were excellent with good beds and having a downstairs bedroom with en-suite was also brilliant. The kitchen was well equipped and the log burner was lovely to sit by at night. We used the Chinese and that was fantastic and the chip shop was also excellent. (Best to book both by phone). We had a meal with the dogs in Cullen at The Royal Oak which was also amazing and a reasonable price. It had a secure yard for our little Yorkshire Terrier dogs which was great! All of the locals were very welcoming and there are brilliant walks and a lovely harbour. We can overstate how brilliant our 4 night stay was! Thank you so much

Great base to explore the coast. Recommend a stroll around cullen antique shops when the weather is not too good. Great chippy and Chinese when you don't want to cook. Watch for dolphins at bow fiddle rock, we saw them around 2pm there on our last day, wonderful holiday.

The house was just like home from home, they catered for everything and our 13 yr old nephew was over the moon with his room and the video games and videos to watch and play. The surrounding location and amenities were very good too, the landlady in the local hotel was lovely (new owners) , we had a take away meal from the local chip shop , food was lovely & fresh , would also recommend the local Chinese take away , there hospitality was superb and the food was gorgeous too. The beaches are all gorgeous and very safe for children. We would highly recommend this cottage again and we will be back. The Sinclair family

Slater's is well appointed with everything you might need while you are on holiday. A generous welcome basket was provided, always a nice touch. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen properly equipped for preparing and serving family meals. Minor quibble, the kitchen knives were very blunt. They always are...a sharpener is provided. Great location for exploring the Moray coastline. Cullen has a fabulous beach and is only a short distance away. There is a Tesco in Buckie and I organised a home delivery; worth considering to avoid having to do a shop on arrival. All in all a great cottage and I thoroughly recommend it.

We would definitely choose Slater's again if visiting the area.

However we managed our 2nd week here again along with our family. You just know you are coming to a spotless environment everything in place for a safe holiday. Everything it says on the paperwork is there just bring yourself and enjoy the marvellous scenery. We had the downstairs ensuite bedroom great for our needs no need to climb stairs and house is easy to get around. The owners were exceptional and went out of their way to help on Saturday as family car developed a major fault. They left bathroom open for them until such times the breakdown recovery came which bad marks for AA took 7 hours. We will have no hesitation in returning here but unfortunately Mark is booked up for many months so fingers crossed for next year!

When we arrived there was a nice little welcome basket along with bread milk and butter in the fridge. If there was one thing I would like to bring to your attention is the fact that there is no phone reception you have to go up the road to get any reception. We felt like there could have been perhaps an out going phone (payable) for emergencies. This is typical to this area and not just this cottage we know as we have been coming here for 17 years! There were medical G.P and health centre telephone numbers which unfortunately we had to access this year due to husband taking very unwell. Myself son-in-law had to drive us 5 miles to Health Centre as this was quicker than trying for a reception. All of us enjoyed our stay and we hope to return next year.

  • "Lovely Cottage with almost everything you could need - Portknockie is a quiet town with friendly locals."

The cottage is very well equipped but since my husband is 80 I would have appreciated a non-slip shower mat in the shower since he found it slippy. Also the sofas are so soft you really struggle to get out of them - this included my daughter and her husband who have no physical problems. Apart from the above which seems really negative (but just pointers really for perfection) - the cottage is beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean with a very generous welcome pack including tassimo coffee machine and pods. We had a lovely week, thank you.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your feedback we have ordered new couch's for the property following your feedback. We hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

They went to great lengths to make sure they put everything in place for our grandson, travel cot, bath, high chair, stair gates (upstairs and downstairs), and a fire guard as well, so amazing and thoughtful. There was a beautiful vase of fresh flowers and a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage had such wonderful words of wisdom all about, which helped us to ponder and think more about relaxing and having fun and just taking time to chill out and enjoy every moment. We are so grateful for their kindness and sharing their cottage which was only a few streets away from my sister and her family, as we were there for my niece's wedding. Thank you so much for everything Mark and Ruth. So wonderful to meet you both and enjoy your cottage in a wonderful part of the world. Take good care and we hope to return again Very best wishes Joan and Donal Murphyt

  • "We had a fantastic week away at Slater's cottage."

We enjoyed exploring the area and the weather was very good to us. The cottage was the best we've ever stayed in. It had absolutely everything we needed. The extra benefits of a log burner, coffee machine and extra toys for the boys to amuse themselves with was incredible, including a Playstation and games. The cottage was cosy, beds were very comfy and there was loads of hot water for showers. The boys loved counting the lovehearts in the house. It's the wee things that matter most. The chippy is genuinely the best we've ever had. It was hard work tearing ourselves away from the cosy and comfy cottage of a morning but Moray and Aberdeenshire are worth exploring. Amazing beaches and lovely villages to explore. Plenty of ice-cream shops too. We'd love to visit again soon. We thoroughly enjoyed our break. Many thanks to the owner, Mark who couldn't have been more accommodating.

  • "The house has been furnished with an eye to detail and provides everything a holidaymaker could wish."

It is very comfortable, plenty of space, and has a welcoming feel. The bay and beach are beautiful and the coastal paths to both Buckie and Cullen are worth walking. Portknockie is an excellent base from which to tour the area. It is within easy reach of Elgin, the nearest big town, as well as the picturesque villages along the Moray coastline. The local fish and chip shop deserves its award winning status. There are two pubs in the village, both within a minute’s walk of the cottage, but only one does food. Previous occupants of the cottage have praised the Victoria Hotel but we found it both unfriendly and rude. The Seafield Inn next door is basic but friendly. On the road to Cullen, the Cullen Bay Hotel provided good food and an excellent place from which to view the dolphins frolicking in the bay (the hotel provides binoculars!). Cullen also has an Indian and a Chinese takeaway, useful at the end of a full sightseeing day. We would highly recommend the cottage.
