Location: Snettisham

Heacham 3 miles; Hunstanton 5 miles.

Snettisham is a traditional Norfolk village, with many of its houses built from the local iron rich carr stone, which has an attractive golden-brown colouring. Due to this, the buildings are known locally as “gingerbread houses”. Village amenities include general stores, a Post Office, butcher’s, inns, restaurants and a regular bus service to the bustling, family-friendly seaside resort of Hunstanton and historic King’s Lynn. The church of St Mary sits alone on top of the hill and is certainly worthy of a look inside at the exquisitely decorated tracery flowers on the west window. There is an RSPB bird sanctuary close to the beach, which is just over a mile away, and the ancient Peddars Way public footpath runs near to the village. Park Farm is on the edge of the village, and is a working farm with year-round activities for all the family, including a 45 minute “deer-safari” and the chance to feed some of the animals. The Royal Estate of Sandringham, whose impressive house, gardens and church are open to the public, is nearby, as are the plant farm, tea rooms and gift shop at Norfolk Lavender, England's premier lavender farm.

The Property

Lavender Cottage is an attractive, modern, 3 bedroom end-terraced house, built in local Carr Stone, tucked away from the main village road but within walking distance of all the amenities in the village of Snettisham. A bright and welcoming Norfolk cottage, the accommodation includes a well-equipped kitchen leading into the conservatory, which offers a view of the small but beautiful garden, often visited by many wild birds. The sitting room is cosy and welcoming, and makes a lovely base to return to after a day spent exploring this area. Close to the cottage is a lovely children's play area and Park Farm, offering activities for all the family including a “deer safari” and chance to feed the animals. A mile from the village is a long sand and shingle beach and RSPB nature reserve, while the house, gardens and church at the Royal Estate of Sandringham are within easy reach, and the seaside resort of Hunstanton is less than 5 miles away. Also nearby is the picturesque Bircham Windmill, which includes a bakery, tearooms and children’s activities. A wonderful Snettisham cottage, ideal all year round.

A lovely warm, very clean cottage. We had a lovely welcome pack of cake, juice & milk. An ideal location for exploring the country & coast.

The overall home from home feel about the cottage was superb. The owner even left us a home made cake to eat upon our arrival. The cleanliness was 10/10 and the village location was great for peace and quiet. It was a brilliant holiday helped by superb weather.
