  • "As expected from the photos of the property, the furnishing and decor is a little dated, but we found everything to be clean and comfortable, with plenty of hot water for washing and showers."

The owners are no doubt aware of the slight ripple in the vinyl flooring in the kitchen area. Other improvements could be the provision of a couple of dishwasher safe chopping boards and a pair of oven gloves. Also, the outside patio area, although screened for a degree of privacy, would be more attractive and enjoyable to sit in with the addition of some flowering plants. Otherwise, we found the accommodation to be in a peaceful, quiet location, handy for days spent visiting Cromer and Pensthorpe Park during our weekend break.

  • "Sycamore cottage lies at the end of a gated driveway, next to a farm."

The location in the tiny village of Wood Norton is perfect for those wanting to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and quite of rural Norfolk. Despite being in the 'middle of nowhere', it is just five miles from the town of Fakenham and all the resorts such as Cromer, Sheringham, Wells, Brancaster etc. are easily reached just a short drive away. The cottage itself is very well appointed and very clean, and has everything one could want for a comfortable pleasant holiday. There is also a play field with amusements for those with kids. I marked comfort down one because I'm 6' - 3'' and found the sofa etc a bit too low.

! In a lovely quiet location, though the single car wide country lanes cant be avoided if you want to explore the area. The cottage had everything you could need including an ironing board, which was really useful for me on a sewing break( but take your own oven gloves). All appliances used worked well too. The cottage was very warm but the thermostat was easily to hand. The main bedroom is large and the bed was on the firm side but I liked that. There is lots of hanging space and storage for your case etc.( main bedroom only used). Bathrooms were impressively clean and shower lovely and hot. The owner was to hand and really helpful and friendly, when needed. All in all this was a great find and perfect for what I needed. I would definitely consider returning again.

Clean and tidy but lacking the extras that would make us want to return. Mattress is incredibly firm. The kettle was in dire need of descaling, with the filter having disintegrated. I guess you only get what you pay for and as it was a cheap break, then you don't get more than one toilet roll, one tiny guest soap a pint of milk & coffee/tea sachets for the days you are staying! Not sure we even encountered a first aid kit, but there must have been one? Overall, acceptable but wouldn't be returning!

The place is very centrally located in Norfolk and within easy reach of so many tourist attractions and beautiful beaches. The accommodation is far more spacious than the pictures indicate and it was exceptionally clean on arrival. We did have a problem with the dishwasher and this was dealt with promptly and we were kept informed throughout of what was happening - couldn't ask for more. Just a minor point, I do feel that the outside table and chairs could do with being replaced as they were old and faded however this did not affect our stay. We hope to return at some point in the future and would definitely recommend the place to family and friends.

I use a mobility scooter at times and I could go straight from the car park along the path and actually drive straight into the cottage and park it in the hallway. Only one downside and that was our outside seating was never in direct sunlight but the owners couldn’t do anything about this as they can’t move the sun and if we were that desperate we could have gone to sit in the field. We would highly recommend this cottage for it’s peace and tranquility, and the countryside around it is wonderful.

  • "Great cottage to stay in, good location, nice and clean, really spacious."

Have stayed in a number of self-catered cottages before with Sykes and this was definitely the largest. Only comment is that there was only one toilet roll and a couple of dishwasher capsules provided - when I queried this, it was explained that this was due to the cottage being self-catered and it was assumed we would go out and buy our own. I understand this, but have never had this situation in any of the other Sykes cottages I have stayed in, they usually provide the basics in terms of sufficient toilet roll, dishwasher capsules and other essentials. May be worth highlighting that these aren't provided here in the description - we deliberately bought all of our food with us etc to avoid having to go shopping during Covid-19 pandemic, but unfortunately had to then go to the shops anyway in order to be able to go to the toilet! Otherwise, was a great stay and the cottages are lovely.

  • "Our first reaction when we walked in was WOW."

The photos do not do the property justice and the rooms were larger than expected. The master bedroom was massive and the two shower rooms were impressive. To be honest we were a little worried as the standard of accommodation was higher than expected and we though it might have been aimed more at adults - however most of the people staying there were families with young children. Although the cottages were attached we did not hear any noise from any other families staying there - we were more worried about our kids disturbing others to be honest but was able to relax. There was plenty of parking and the courtyard had recently be paved which made carrying cases etc in very easy. The kitchen was very well equipped and clean - we however did have to look up how to work the washing machine/tumble dryer. The internet was much better than expected as the cottages are quite rural. We did stay harvest week so the farm was probably slightly busier than normal but not enough to disturb the peace and tranquillity of the cottages especially as the courtyard is walled. The only thing that I would have liked to see was a little more info about the farm - we did find the play area after a little investigation but overall both us and our guests were impressed and hope to book again for next year.

We chose Sycamore Cottage for our holiday as we were two couples looking for a two bedroom, two bathroom property and this was just what we'd hoped for. We found it very spacious, comfortable, well-equiped and extremely clean. We would highly recommend Sycamore Cottage and although we were out every day visiting points of interest we could have been just as happy spending time relaxing indoors. There was no offer of help. Had I known this I would not have booked this cottage and that would have been a pity because there is no doubt that it is the best cottage I have rented in the area. Very comfortable and large. All this needs is a small trolley of the type you see at a garden centre and the problem is solved. Another problem was the concrete path to the cottage, there was a warning notice on the gate to warn you that the path is uneven. It certainly is and is most unsuitable for a disability buggy. A cheap surface skim would cure this.
