  • "The first thing we had to do on arrival was find and isolate all the air fresheners as the smell was completely overpowering!"

This made more sense when I read the review for the guest before u. Apart from that this little house suited us very well indeed and we really enjoyed our stay. It was great being able to pop down to the Lake and in to Bala, which had a good range of shops. I found the bed too firm, but that was just me. Others in the party thought they were great. The house was clean and very well equipped, though the bathroom could do with a refresh. Wifi stopped occasionally, but we just turned it off and on again and it worked fine. Good sized table in the conservatory for games and meals. Weather wasn't great but we weren't short of things to do. Cerris craft village with activities (not available all year round) was a nice way to spend a few hours. We also got the little train one stop and then walked back which was a pleasant couple of hours' stroll. All in all I'd recommend the house and am very pleased we chose it.

  • "This could've been a nice property but unfortunately we had a number of issues which spoiled the stay for us."

We had no internet for the majority of the trip. This was a big problem for us as I had to work intermittently throughout the week and we are also going through a house purchase. When I reported this to the owner (who lived next door) she became rude and argumentative and insisted that the internet was working fine and just needed to be reset. But even when the router was reset repeatedly there was still no connection available and this problem continued for most of the week. On the first night, the owner and her son stated that they would pop around the next morning to make sure everything was up and running, but actually we never heard from them again. Also, we needed to buy several air fresheners for the property as there was a strange odour in the main living areas, which the owner stated was due to a previous tenant who had dogs. The electric heater in the second bedroom was not working and we had to turn it off at the mains power to avoid raging heat throughout the night. One of the rear uPVC doors was very difficult to open and had to be rammed from the bottom to gain access to the bins. It's a shame as this could be a great property with more attention.

  • "Overall the property met our needs & was as described."

Very welcome additions such as the milk, tea tray & Welsh cakes. The flowers were also beautiful & the miniature toiletries in the bathroom came in handy as I'd forgotten to pack shower gel! Very useful to have things like condiments, tin foil & sandwich bags available too - thank you. Personally I found the bed in the blue room a little too firm for my liking, but that is purely personal preference. My 2 children slept incredibly well in the other rooms . The quality of the mattress, bed linens & towels were superb. The outside space was wonderful in the morning to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine & we caught it just in time to enjoy tea in the early evening. Ardwyn is a very comfortable property & well equipped for an enjoyable stay. Bala is a lovely town & perfectly situated to explore Gwynedd & Snowdonia. I'm sure we'll return!

  • "Fantastic location, fabulous weather - what more could you ask for?"

Walking into Bala made it easy to pick up everyday essentials and eat out, whilst the local road network made it easy getting to the MTB trail centres we wanted to visit. The bungalow was certainly comfortable for 2 adults and 2 dogs, well stocked kitchen and the flowers were a nice extra. Having a garage to store the MTB's in was an added bonus. The only thing we could have done with was a hoover with better suction :) I'm sure we'll be back to experience more that this part of Wales has to offer.
