Location: Betws-y-coed

Llanrwst 4 miles; Blaenau Ffestiniog 11 miles.

Betws-y-Coed, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia, is North Wales' most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. Most famous of all are the magnificent Swallow Falls, situated where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm. The village has shops, pubs, places to eat, miniature railway, a riverside golf course and the Woodland High Rope Activity Centre, and is home to The Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre, as well as being the start of the beautiful Conwy Valley which leads to the coast and the lovely towns of Llandudno and Conwy.

Previous visitors' comments about Meifod:

The location is fantastic with beautiful views and wonderful hosts.
Mr Dickin, Spalding, August 2011

The location was perfect and very dog friendly. The owners were welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Our cottage was delightful and beautifully kept.
Mrs Nichols, Bradford, July 2011

The cottage itself is lovely and although there were people either side of us the design of the garden and the thickness of the walls meant we felt like we were there on our own. The location of the cottage is in a perfect position for the beach as well as the mountains. The owners are on hand to help but discreet at the same time. The welsh cakes on arrival were delicious and we ended up taking lots back home. We were worried as we were going on holiday for the 1st time with our 8 month old baby but the high chair and the travel cot were very high standard. It was also great that we got to meet the owner's sheep, cats and hens. Thank you very much. We had a wonderful week and are definitely going back.
Mrs Thangavel, London, July 2011

The location was perfect and offered great space inside the cottage with a very well equipped kitchen.
