  • "The cottage looked just as it was listed and booking through Sykescottages was very simple."

The cottage is situated in a good location close to the lake. The parking situation in the street is slightly difficult but there is a pay and display car park close by. The cottage is very well equipped in terms of crockery and cutlery. The only downside (this was the only downside) was that the cottage smelt of damp, wet dog which was a big let down and on reflection I now wished I had book a pet friendly cottage.

  • "Some of the reviews about Snowdon View are extremely off putting, unfair and factually inaccurate!"

! We found the listing to be accurate and clear in its description and photographs. It is well equipped terraced house and fairly typical of most listings in Llanberis. Yes parking can be an issue if you’re super lazy, but you can load and unload with no problems outside the property, and can park for free in many of the side streets. The beds are clean with sweet smelling bedding and the best firm mattresses to aid a good nights sleep. The biggest negative for us was the continuous late night noise on the road directly outside the house. On every night of the stay there were drunk people shouting right through until early hours, 4/5am! Location is absolutely perfect otherwise. Super close to shops and cafes in the village . The lake is literally a 5 minute walk away. We loved it and would definitely return again but take ear plugs for your stay :)

  • "If I had read the reviews I would not have booked the cottage."

It certainly needs some tlc and someone to check that everything is there and working. Eg We could not use the baby gate as parts were missing and 2 of the kitchen cupboards were stuck and could not be opened. The recycling boxes were overflowing so we could not use them and we’re not a pretty sight out of the kitchen window. Fortunately we were out most of our stay so it was ok for 2 nights. Beds were comfortable.

Parking in lakeside carpark was only a couple of minutes away and worked well. The steep narrow stairs could be a problem for some. Helpful owners - no problem recommending this property.

A perfect retreat after a days arduous mountaineering , exploring, wild swimming or other water activities in nearby lake pardarn. We had a fantastic week.

  • "The sink in the kitchen was leaking the bath tub is cracked and leaks and there is no bath mat meaning you have a constantly wet bathroom floor."

There is a distinct lack of glass wear, a cottage for 6 adults only has 3 wine glasses, the rest are plastic which I was quite surprised by. Generally the place just needs a bit of TLC to be comfortable again. The location however is excellent. If you are not too bothered about having a lot of creature comforts then it is a good place to stay.

  • "The cottage NEEDS a deep clean."

There was hair on all the bedding, dust bunnies under beds and sofas, dust in wardrobes, hair in bathroom, toothpaste marks in the bathroom, bathroom fan covered in dust, bathroom radiator very dirty, stairs carpet dirty, the kettle was very dirty and lots of limescale inside, toaster was not cleaned, no peeler in the kitchen, not enough plates and glasses, some pots and pans had burnt inside, kitchen cabinets dirty inside, dirty cutlery. The garden needs some attention as well. Only 2 logs for the fire place we have stayed on other places with plenty of logs left for the guests. No guest book provided. We found it a bit cold in the cottage only with the central heating on - fireplace kept us warm. Sofas were comfy. Beds were comfy. The radiator in the bathroom was not working but was fixed quick. No parking in front of the property but plenty of space on the high street. Great location but it is a shame it was so dirty.

The parking is none existent and a real pain with a large family with young children trying to find overnight parking. The facilities provided in the cottage are really good and the location is excellent just a shame it is so unclean.

  • "The cottage was nice."

The attic room especially. The whole cottage appeared superficially clean when we arrived. How-ever, it soon became apparent that it hadn't been cleaned properly for months. A let down for a nice place. The main problem was the appalling communication by Sykes.Any emails I sent were ignored (& the first was sent in early March 2020, before the Covid crisis) We had to alter the dates from Oct 20 to Sept 21. I called Sykes every day for 3 weeks before some-one answered the phone even trying the emergency number. I called them on 2 other occasions & also had long waits to speak to any-one. This could not have been all due to Covid. It is being used as an excuse.Totally unacceptable.

There was a gas extraction fan from next door straight into our patio. We Arrived Friday a maintenance man turned up. Saturday he was back again. Monday a man just turned up to put bins out no warning. Tuesday he brought them back in to the garden. Wednesday a lady let herself in the front door again no warning she was coming. Friday the maintenance guy was back again no warning.

  • "The cottage is very nice, but it could be soooo much better."

As per previous comments in the property guest book, it desperately needs a deep clean, especially under beds and sofas, on top of wardrobes, and the bathroom fan. We were forced to do a lot of cleaning ourselves when we arrived, which really isn’t acceptable especially in these COVID times and August premiums (over £2000 for 10 nights). Even so our 4 legged friend often appeared covered in dust and dirt. Also previously mentioned, the external doors are difficult to lock, and 2 of the bedroom doors do not close properly, and the bathroom door handle is very difficult to operate from outside the bathroom. Time spent on maintenance is much needed. I could spend considerable time writing an extensive list of maintenance suggestions.

  • "The cottage was overall very nice and we had a wonderful staycation!"

. The location is fab with the lake only a very short stroll down the street. The wood burner is a lovely feature especially on autumn/winter rainy nights! My partner was really pleased with the internet speed and sky TV! The reclining sofa was a real bonus for our tired & weary legs from walking up Snowdon! The cottage is cosy and comfortable and the kitchen is clean & is really well equipped for home cooking. The bedrooms are bright & airy with comfortable beds and nice quality bedding & bath sheets. The welcome doggy hamper was also very much appreciated by Daisy our Jack Russell! We do have several suggestions but please note these are not major critisms. The internal door leading to the living area does not close & swings open which gets a little annoying & you have to wedge it shut. The blinds also look a little tired and the yard at the rear could do with a little spruce up, although I do appreciate we visited in Oct and we had quite a lot of rain! All in all a great stay and if we are to visit the area again we would be sure to try and book Snowdon View!! Thank you

  • "A really great short break, fantastic cottage with everything we needed to hand, superbly comfortable beds and couches and ideal location just off the High Street for all shops and food outlets."

Parking was no problem at all, if no space available outside then there are plenty of spaces either on the High Street or on the public car park about 50 yards away and free overnight from 4.30pm until 10.00 am. The problem we had with keys was sorted straight away through Adam and his caretaker Andy who also sorted out a minor leak on the sink for us so a great many thanks to both. Just a superb cottage with every amenity one could ask.

  • "The cottage was very cosy and comfortable, and we particularly liked the attic bedroom which was very quaint and peaceful."

The cottage is in a great location for shops, pubs and restaurants in the village centre (we thought the Peak restaurant was especially good - but currently only open Wed-Sat). We also found Llanberis an ideal base for travelling around all corners of northern Snowdonia. However don’t expect to be able to park in the street outside as there are only 3 spaces and some vehicles never seen to move! But there is a cheap car park 3 mins walk away by the lake (accessed down the one way street opposite the end of the road), with no charge at all after 16.30 and until 10.00 the following day at the time of our stay, and £1 per hour up to 3 hrs max at other times). However I think the charging hours probably extend in peak season. Having said all this, we found the road outside the cottage quiet enough to be able to stop for a few mins on “double yellows” to unload upon arrival.

  • "The location of the property is excellent, we were very lucky to have w hole week of Welsh sunshine which helps a lot."

The kitchen is very well stocked with equipment which really helped us and makes a change from very limited equipment with the expectation you will be eating out. Lake Padarn is stunning and a great place to sit with early morning tea and a book and just enjoy the view It would be beneficial to know that the street parking is for 3 cars in a street of 30 houses so highly unlikely to get any parking. We did have trouble with the front door and the lock which was a challenge to open and leave the house. The house itself could have done with a good clean especially due to C19 and emails from Skye cottages advising of additional measure in place this seem to skip Snowdon view.

  • "Not quite up to Sykes usual standards."

Single downstairs room kitchen/lounge is smaller than expected. With four it was Ok but six would be a squeeze. Property is clean, well decorated and equipped apart from little things like not enough glasses, v small bins for recycling. Patio is a bit of a mess and not particularly pleasant to sit out in with the back gate not secure. Being right in the centre of Llanberis it’s great for access to Snowdonia, but very noisy late into the night and parking is a nightmare.

The compost bin was also stinking so our first 10 mins in the place were spent with marigolds on having a tidy up. The owner sent someone to remove the loose bags but the wheelie bin and compost stayed as they were until we left. Very clean and the facilities in the cottage were excellent. The only 'issue' we had was with parking. On a summer weekend with beautiful weather we never found any free street parking close by(other than that in the High Street which was limited time during the day). We found ourselves having to pay for parking in town car parks (not cheap), though we did eventually find somewhere we were able to park for free about 10 minutes walk away.

Even worse, there was snail trail (yes-you read that right!) on the chopping board and pedal bin. Downstairs windows and exterior doors were filthy. Garden/Yard - we were fortunate to have lovely weather, but could not sit out along with all the rubbish left by previous occupants, broken chairs, weeds, rusty buckets and flies. This really needs attention. Bathroom and bedrooms were fine (apart from drawer fronts coming off). I can provide pictures, if needed. Thanks

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
