  • "Douglas Cottage is a fabulous place, ideally suited for exploring."

Plenty of space for our party of 4 to feel comfortable and at home for our week away. A bonus is the hot tub, which was enjoyed by all.

  • "A lovely house, with plenty of room for our party of six adults."

Very nicely decorated, comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen and a log burner... we didn't use the hot tub in the end, sadly, but I would have loved to!

  • "Very warm and comfortable cottage."

We are a family of 6 (4 kids aged 17-5) and found the cotttage a great base for exploring the local area. Walk down to the aquaduct / canal as well as day trip to Chester zoo were particularly memorable. The hot tub was a great addition after a long day out exploring. Thanks Steven, Diane and the boys.

  • "Mostly everything was great - lovely spacious property."

The issues we had: master bed is uncomfortable and noisy - should be replaced. Internet is very poor to the point of unusable, I switched over to 4G in the end. And no DVD player was a surprise but, to be fair, was not mentioned in the listing so I can't complain! Aside from those issues, it was an excellent break.

Thank you for your feedback. We have since had Fibre broadband (350 MBPS) installed! Property Owner

  • "We all had a brilliant holiday."

The cottage was spotless and the owners made us feel really safe on arrival. The cottage is bigger than the photos make out and nicer too (not that the photos aren't nice! The real thing is just better!). Lovely walks just outside the door and a big garden for the kids. Would stay again and recommend it everyone. First time in North Wales, such a beautiful place. Would recommend getting a day canal boat over the Aqueduct and an evening meal at The Sun Inn Trevor.

  • "A nice surprise awaited our arrival at Douglas Cottage."

The owners had left a large, homemade cake for us and it was delicious. Upon meeting the owners we found them to be very friendly and very helpful. Douglas Cottage is a modern, well equipped and very comfortable house which is located close to some of the area's important attractions such as Chirk Castle, Attingham Hall and Llangollen with it's canal and preserved railway. Despite less than favourable weather we were able to fully occupy our days and of course we had the cottage to relax in each evening. There are plenty of local establishments selling a variety of foods (eat in or take away) and there is a large, well-equipped kitchen/diner should you wish to prepare your own.

The homemade cake was a nice touch & was enjoyed by all. Location was great for what we wanted, would definitely recommend & hope to return ourselves. Good location for visiting North Wales. The owners, Mike and Deb went out of their way to give advice on things to do, places to visit and good pubs and restaurants for evening meals. They even made a cake for our arrival. Great hosts. We stayed for four nights and would certainly recommend this cottage.

  • "We booked this cottage at the very last minute."

We've used Sykes in the past and my husband booked a "lodge" through a different site that was not on trip advisor. The lodge turned out to be a filthy caravan which we had to stay in one night as it was after 5 on Sat 13th Oct. The speedy and helpful response we received from Sykes on Sun 14th Oct was very good and a relief at a very stressful time. Thank you. Gillian Davis
