  • "Super place to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday with friends."

Kids loved exploring the grounds and plenty to do to keep the adults entertained in the 'pub' with darts and pool.

  • "This farmhouse is full of rustic charm with plenty of space for large family gatherings and beautifully decorated for Christmas."

The setting is peaceful and picturesque. Unfortunately the facilities let it down: only 2 showers worked which was particularly difficult for my 88year old mother. The owner said he would come and sort but didn’t. Dishwasher in main kitchen doesn’t wash properly. Knives are so blunt you can’t cut anything - we tried to sharpen but still useless. Heating is operated remotely by owner which makes it difficult to regulate. The lack of hot water and cold bedrooms made it very challenging for a family of 15. If all this was sorted this place would be perfect.

  • "The views and location is amazing."

We did have a lovely time. We appreciate it is an old building and if people staying there don't give feedback then things cannot be sorted. The general cleanliness in the main kitchen was below par. Quite a few peices of crockery were chipped/ broken. The chairs at the kitchen table some were very unstable and not safe. The bedrooms were all clean and tidy and the bed linen and towels were good quality. The back up electric heaters were a must as the central heating was somewhat temperamental. The place got cosy when the log burner was going. There lacked a downstairs cloakroom/WC. There we some unwanted guests (mice) in the small kitchen. And something larger in the loft. All in all despite the above this is a lovely place to visit in a beautiful setting.

  • "We had a fabulous stay at this property."

We were a group of 10 across 3 generations from 19 to 89 years old. The house is spacious with large proportioned rooms throughout. There was plenty of space for everyone. The bedrooms are all good sizes with 3 standout bedrooms, 1 in each upstairs wing and the downstairs bedroom off the kitchen/diner. Everyone slept really well, my dad who's 89 and an early riser slept in every morning! The bed linen and towels were really good quality. All the bathrooms are spacious, really high quality and there was plenty of hot water. Outside space is great! With far reaching views in total peace and quiet (just the sheep for neighbours). We made good use of the side garden playing rounders. The covered patio was used by the older family members as it was sheltered and warmed by the sun. Plenty to do in this property in the evenings with the huge lounge, board games, darts in the snug and pool tournaments in the next room. Having 2 kitchens in either side of the house meant easy access to snacks and cold/hot drinks. Things to note- there are 3 quite high steps into the main kitchen/diner and the stairs on both sides of the house are quite steep with a rope hand rail. As the 2nd ground floor bedroom had no easy access to a toilet (in the night) my elderly parents slept upstairs so one of us had to be on hand to help with the stairs but as this was just twice a day it didn't detract from our enjoyment. As in the description this is an isolated house, the surrounding roads are narrow (although plenty of passing places) and llangollen is about 15-20 minute drive. Chirk about 15 minutes. The track to the house is quite bumpy but we had no problem driving in an Astra and 2 SUV's, just drive slow and be careful of the sheep. If you want to get away from it all and relax in total peace and quiet in a huge, comfortable house but with access to surrounding villages and towns then this house ticks all the boxes.

Really great place to host such a big party, the long kitchen table was just perfect for us all as! Upon arrival the hosts brought us extra heaters as they was an issue with the radiator oil, heaters worked fine and along with the fires throughout it was nice and warm! With 17 of us the house was quite noisy, and sound does seem to travel through the house quite a lot as it’s so old! I had the bedroom next to the main living room and to be honest the mattress could do with being replaced or the bed frame, it wasn’t a great nights sleep for me and my husband but after speaking to the others they all seemed to sleep well! Overall a really great stay! Thanks so much

!). Also, on arrival we had to wash all the dishes before we could use them as they were dirty, we then discovered that the filter in the dishwasher was blocked with food, which was obviously the reason for the dirty dishes! There was also recycling in the kitchen bins from the previous occupants! We couldn’t help feeling that although qwerky the property is in need of some general upgrading and a new drive!!

  • "The owner describes Pant Dafydd Goch as a "hidden gem"."

Absolutely true, and I would add, "but not for the faint-hearted". Pant means hollow and the house is situated off the road in a fold in the hills with a superb view to the South East. The track down to the house is unmade and bumpy but most cars can handle it without difficulty if taken with care. Don't take your low-slung sports car down there. Once there, you will fall in love with the idyllic setting. There are basically two houses joined together by a magnificent and very comfortable lounge. The downstairs bedroom is part of the route through to the enormous kitchen/dining room but can be shut off for privacy. The owner has furnished the house with period furniture which recreates the atmosphere of the old Welsh farmhouses where I spent holidays as a child many years ago. The beds are much more comfortable, however, as they all have modern mattresses. The layout is somewhat eccentric and full of surprises, but we made it work for our large family group and even held a wedding anniversary party where a tour of the house was part of the entertainment. Staying there was an unforgettable experience. If you have a dog you should be aware that the house is surrounded by pasture with grazing livestock and even our son's elderly dog was able to hop over part of the stone wall and into the sheep pen just in front of the house. She was rather scared of the sheep.

Alex made it known we could contact him at anytime should we need to know or require anything...a perfect friendly host. We did get a little lost trying to find the cottage, we followed the instructions Alex had recommend instead of following the sat nav route; this made it even more a special journey-it was like a treasure hunt trail :) The only problem was the last sign to follow for the directions had been removed, hence us getting lost; why we didn't think to ring Alex for help, who knows! :) It is a remote property therefore the path to it is across a field and a stoney rocky path, which may not be suitable for all vehicles, but it is definitely all worth it, you become part of the country scenery and make friends with the sheep :) The property is beautiful, very rustic. If anything there are a few things that require attention, such as a fault on a panel of the double glazing, which makes it look misty and the garden could be tidied, but nothing major at all. The bedding and towels were super white and clean, everything was very clean, all the pots and drinking glasses were sparkling. The bathrooms were equally as clean and pristine. A basket of goodies and a fridge with condiments was a very welcoming touch. We sat around the dining table for an evening meal with the patio doors open, it was bliss. After 2 nights we were all beginning to wish the cottage belonged to us, it has a beautiful homely feeling and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this relaxing authentic cottage to anyone. Thank you Alex, from 7 beautiful, just 50year old girls X X X X X X X
