The hilltop town of Ruthin lies to the north of Llangollen via the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass. The town is picturesque with attractive half-timbered buildings, mainly clustered around St Peter’s Square. There are many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are the Coast, Snowdonia National Park and historic Chester.

The Property

A charming Ruthin cottage in a small courtyard off St Peters Square, in the heart of the historical market town of Ruthin. This stone built semi detached Ruthin cottage is nestled in a little backwater, located below the clock tower and spire of the 13th century church that dominates the town's skyline. This character Ruthin cottage has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with exposed beams and a superb inglenook fireplace with a "real flame" gas fire for a cosy, relaxing feel. Large French doors invite you to spend time in the private, enclosed gardens of this Ruthin cottage, enjoying the views of the valley and church, soaking up the peace and tranquility the cottage enjoys. Upstairs this Ruthin cottage has two bedrooms - a cosy single room and a larger twin bedroom, both with roof top views across to the Clwydian mountain range. The kitchen/diner of this Ruthin cottage is very well-equipped, with high quality fixtures and fittings. Ruthin offers an array of shops, wine bars and restaurants, right on the doorstep. Alternatively, further afield, the superb surrounding countryside offers picturesque walks on the Clwydian Hills, Offa's Dyke Pathway or in Loggerheads Country Park. There are numerous cycle tracks such as the Llandegla bike path and surrounding forest trails or travel further to Llangollen, Bala or Betwys-y-Coed to explore some of the other charming villages in North Wales.
