Porthmadog 11 miles.

The fascinating old slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is situated in a superb position for exploring the Snowdonia National Park. There is a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. The main local attractions include the slate mines - where visitors can take enthralling underground trips to see mining as it was done in days gone by - and the famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog mountain railway which runs for 13 miles through the Snowdonia National Park to the harbour town of Porthmadog. Nearby is Portmeirion village, famous for its architecture and the film set of the cult TV series “The Prisoner”. Local beaches, suitable for children, are within easy driving distance.

The Property

A traditional, stone-built, mid-terrace quarryman’s cottage situated a short walk from the pubs and restaurants of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the centre of the Snowdonia National Park. Located on a quiet side road, in the hamlet of Rhiwbryfdir, less than 0.5 miles from the main railway station, this cosy Blaenau Ffestiniog cottage provides comfortable accommodation and has been sympathetically renovated using local materials to retain its character. The low back door and the Criccieth wood floor (which used to be a dance floor) in the sitting room of this Blaenau Ffestiniog cottage are traditional and charming. The area surrounding this Blaenau Ffestiniog cottage offers beautiful countryside and stunning views, with many walking and cycling tracks around. There is also the narrow gauge steam railway offering train rides to Porthmadog and the coast with its marina and Blue Flag beach at Black Rock Sands, whilst Betws-y-Coed, Portmeirion, Bodnant Gardens, and Mount Snowdon itself are all within easy reach of this Blaenau Ffestiniog cottage. A cosy Welsh cottage getaway throughout the year.
