  • "Really nice house in a great peaceful location."

Everything we needed was available, with a local pub/restaurant and a short drive for shops and takeaway. The open plan nature of the building meant that sound carried easily, so anyone in the kitchen could disturb those still in bed, but that was a minor point in an otherwise lovely stay.

  • "We spent a wonderful three weeks holiday at the Old chapel, a charmingly converted cottage: spacious, well equipped and excellently cared for."

We met kind neighbors and found a charming village with a fine pub and a well kept community shop where we could enjoy staying at the café and getting into contact with residents. The location is ideal for exploring York and the countryside from the Dales to the Moors and the coast. It was the best cottage we ever had and we could imagine to book it again.

Constructive comments - need more information regarding recycling. What can go in each bin? 10.00am checkout is tight especially when having breakfast and leave an empty dishwasher, strip beds, empty bins, pack and tidy up.

they layout is great bedrooms on the ground floor living area open plan on the upper floor we could not fault anything. It is located in an excellent position in the village, within walking distance of the "Fleece Inn" where there is good food & drink. It is a lovely village, so quiet & there is a village shop run by friendly volunteers, There are plenty of walks starting from the village and the coast is only 28 miles away if you want to take a short ride. The rental was well organized by Sykes & the friendly owner, well done to all concerned thanks for a wonderful stay. Regards Richard

The location is fabulous with lots of lovely walks amongst the scenic dales of the Yorkshire Wolds right from the doorstep, with several areas of open access land. The old Chapel is a fantastic place to stay and extremely impressed and it really made the holiday. Ideally located within easy reach of the North Yorkshire Moors its an idea base for your holiday. we thoroughly enjoyed the break and will be back for sure. Just 2 very minor comments and just purely for assistance. The bulb in the fridge needs replacing and we thought best to let you know it was not an issue purely letting you know. We stripped the bedding and place towels (inc tea towels in the relevant bags as per the instructions). There was a note to place in the outdoor cupboard and we could not find the cupboard as the ones outside have refuse bins so a little confused as to the correct location. It might be a good idea to add a picture and something to show the right place on the welcome pack. Apologies if this caused an issue as we genuinely could not find location and therefore left at the bottom of the stairs. Thanks for the such a great stay it was a great tonic and we cannot wait to return. Kind regards Max and Angie

  • "The Old Chapel in Bishop Wilton is an absolutely stunning property."

The village is beautiful and the local pub 'The Fleece Inn' (which is literally round the corner) is quaint and delightful and ran by lovely people and serves delicious food and has a great atmosphere. There is a shop in Bishop Wilton but it's getting refurbished at the moment so we had to hop into the car to nearby Pocklington - approximately 10 minute drive - which didn't bother us at all because when you get there you find a beautiful village/small town with great shops, pubs and restaurants. Anyway back to the Old Chapel in Bishop Wilton. I really can't explain how stunning this place is guys. Upside down living,Which confused us and our dog at first but we soon got used to it) a pretty little securely enclosed high walled patio area - perfect for our dog. The furniture in the lounge and the beds are so comfortable and as for the kitchen well it's superb and is stocked really well. E.g plates, pans, cleaning products, dishwasher, microwave, cooker and the other facilities are excellent to. So overall, for us, PERFECT!..... . We will definitely be recommending this property to our friends and family. And if you are wanting to stay somewhere with a 'WOW!!' then this is absolutely the place for you. The only negative we have is that we were only there for 5 nights. We're gutted it couldn't have been longer but sadly with work commitments our stay (this time) couldn't have been longer. We stayed at this property from 3/11/18 to 8/11/18 and the price we paid for staying - well we thought it was a bargain and we will definitely 100% be booking here again. We would like to say a huge thank you to the owner of The Old Chapel for allowing this place to be rented out, it's perfect in every way xxxx. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Sykes Cottages as well for advertising what we thought is such a truly wonderful peaceful haven. Thanks again love from Shaun, Dean and Ziggy the dog xxxx

  • "The experience of the Old Chapel Cottage we stayed in at Bishop Wilton was one of sheer delight."

A Beautiful little village all but a 20 minute car journey to York City. We managed to fill the whole week with easy enough travels to well known places of interest, Whitby Bay and the World Famous Abbey were hot on our list to visit, and their Fish n Chips are most definitely the tastiest I've ever had. The furthest we travelled was to a place called The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire. What an amazing place, perfect for those with kids and who like a place of adventure. York City itself is a thriving City, wether its the Shops, the quaint little Café and bars, or the Olde Streets of the Shambles, but our best memories are of the 275 twirling steps that takes you up to the top of the York Minster Tower. Amazing views, Bishop Wilton has an excellent food pub too. I'd certainly Love to return one day.
