The village of Skipsea is situated in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a typically rural setting surrounded by rich, agricultural land, yet Skipsea also sits within one mile of the beach and is close to the cliffs of the North Sea. The village has its own Post Office, general store and tea room, a hairdresser’s, a fish and chip shop, and a pub. Many of the houses in the village, both old and new, use cobbles from the sea shore in the building. Just outside the village are the remains of Skipsea Castle. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and cycling, whilst the nearby seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey boast long sandy beaches and numerous resort attractions. The Deep Submarium at Hull, Sledmere House and Burton Constable Hall are within 20 miles whilst the shops, cathedral and museum of historic York, the resort town of Scarborough and the North Yorks Moors Steam Railway at Pickering are within an hour’s drive, making Skipsea a superb base for a relaxing holiday.

The property was beautiful and the decor outstanding - very homely. The owners were incredibly helpful and showed us to the nearest beach which was fabulous and empty! Great for two families sharing, and accommodating for dogs with a useful utility room for drying off and also for muddy/sandy boots.

The property was significantly superior to its description / photos on Sykes site. The site did not tell us that it was surrounded by fields, with a garden more like a small field, yet still close to a town.
