Highly recommend! Just a short drive to Scarborough but enough out the way if you don’t want to be central to the main towns. Cosy cottage with a lovely garden. The owner is lovely and is only a door knock away if you need ANYTHING. Had a lovely week here and a great holiday !

Peaceful surroundings with all mod-cons available. We will be looking to book to stay at The Wood again next year and look forward to returning. The large garden with scenic views in particular was a gem for everyone on the holiday, with the children and dog making great use of it. The log fire was also a lovely feature to the property. Highly recommended.

  • "Super cute and quirky cottage."

Spotlessly clean, well appointed with comfy beds and chairs. The enclosed garden a godsend for those with dogs and the views from the garden are breathtaking. Mrs Linsley was very welcoming and friendly. The downside for me personally (as I have arthritis and sadly was having a bit of a flare up during my stay) was the 2 steps down from the lobby/bathroom/bedroom to the kitchen lounge as I’m a lady of a certain age that goes to the loo a lot! This is mentioned in the listing but could really benefit from a grab rail, also one in the bath would make the shower more accessible friendly. But on the whole a lovely space to stay.

Clean and comfortable with a large garden and beautiful views. Just a couple of things that could have made it even better. A dishwasher instead of the washing machine and the markings on the oven have rubbed off so it’s total guesswork as no instructions. Still lovely though. Thank you

Very well equipped but starting to look a bit tired in places. It is situated close to a main road and whilst the noise didn’t bother us, it could for some people. Enclosed garden was great for the dog and a lovely pergola would have been great to sit under in warmer months. Nice welcome pack but more than two logs for the fire would have been appreciated!

The outside area now has outside furniture and wooden gazebo which was lovely to sit under at night especially after 10 pm when the fairy lights came on. The only thing I would suggest is a hand rail on the bathroom window wall to aid assistance to get into bath for shower, as quite a high step to get into.

It is very spacious and there was plenty of room for my family of 5. The mezzanine area with the bed was very spacious for my 15yr old son. The owner was very welcoming but also respected our privacy during our stay. Tea, coffee, milk left for arrival. Beautiful views from the garden, lovely walk right around the village to the beck and on the doorstep of everything the North York Moors has to offer. The garden area is closed to the driveway and road, with no possibility for the dog to escape, and a lovely outside seating area which is not in the photos. We hope to be back, a very relaxing stay, thank you.

We booked this so I was able to get ready for my wedding and it was perfect. The bedrooms were spacious and comfy. The garden was beautiful as well with lovely views across the countryside. The only thing that could have been better was the lighting in the cottage. It was a bit dark on an evening and the lights didn't seem to make a difference! However, we all really enjoyed our stay at the Wood and will definitely be recommending to friends and family.

  • "This cottage for starters is not suitable for 6 people, 4 at a push."

This cottage could have been designed as a luxury cottage for 4 if owners had put their minds to it. Very small bathroom, especially for more than 2 people, would have liked a dishwasher instead of washing machine. No coat hooks to hang coats up, not enough kindling to light fire, no information at local property, like where to catch buses or trains, what’s around or places to go. Internet poor as kept losing signal, lack of blinds for bedrooms, kept getting woken up very early in morning by sun coming into bedroom. All in all would not return here

  • "Lovely welcome from the owner and cottage perfectly placed to go to the coast, Dalby forest, Wolds & North York’s moors."

Accomodation was clean, tidy & perfect for taking a dog as all hard flooring. Would recommend this for 4 people only not six as landing bed has no privacy at all & in my opinion could not be used as a bedroom Only downside for us was lack of toilets/ensuite. As there is only one toilet (within the downstairs bathroom) it was noisy going down the wooden stairs during the night if you wanted to use the facilities. There is certainly plenty of room upstairs to add an ensuite.
