The small historic village of Husthwaite lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, overlooking the Vale of York. Picturesque and peaceful, the village is a perfect introduction to "Herriot Country", and boasts a first class traditional pub, a beautiful old Norman church and many fine old houses. The nearby White Horse of Kilburn, cut out of the hillside in 1857, is a prominent local landmark, and members of the village contribute to its annual upkeep, painting it to keep up its white appearance. The lovely market town of Easingwold is nearby, boasting a pretty market square and a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes, whilst York with its famous Minster, medieval walls and Jorvik Viking Centre, is a short drive away. The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors and Coast are also within easy touring distance and are rich in stately homes and National Trust attractions - Harewood House and Castle Howard are just two of several within an hour's drive.

Previous visitors' comments about Sleepy Hollow:
It was very cosy and soon felt like home.
With 8 of us together we never felt crowded and could always find a quiet space.
Mrs Shaw, Hertford, December 2011
The cottage was the perfect size for our party. There was plenty of room for all of us to do what we wanted without being squashed. The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen I have ever experienced in a holiday rental. The whole experience was great, really warm, cosy and homely. The welcome basket was a very nice touch too. I would definitely rent this cottage again and recommend it to anyone planning a getaway.
Miss Kay, Rossendale, November 2011
We had a wonderful weekend and the weather was kind to us most of the time. Sleepy Hollow was an excellent house, way above our expectations, immaculate and with everything you would need for the break even down to the chopsticks. We also found the local pub (The Orchard) to be very friendly with good beer and fantastic home cooked food. We also enjoyed our walks on the Saturday and Sunday stopping off for our Sunday Lunch. Thank you to the owner of Sleepy Hollow for keeping an excellent house.
