Easingwold 5 miles; York 17 miles.
The small historic village of Husthwaite lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, overlooking the Vale of York. Picturesque and peaceful, the village is a perfect introduction to "Herriot Country", and boasts a first class traditional pub, a beautiful old Norman church and many fine old houses. The nearby White Horse of Kilburn, cut out of the hillside in 1857, is a prominent local landmark, and members of the village contribute to its annual upkeep, painting it to keep up its white appearance. The lovely market town of Easingwold is nearby, boasting a pretty market square and a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes, whilst York with its famous Minster, medieval walls and Jorvik Viking Centre, is a short drive away. The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors and Coast are also within easy touring distance and are rich in stately homes and National Trust attractions - Harewood House and Castle Howard are just two of several within an hour's drive.

Previous visitors' comments about Sleepy Hollow:
A lovely welcome pack, and decorated for the Christmas period (even a snowman in the garden!). A very nice location and friendly local people in the village.
A very clean, beautifully prepared property. A real treat.
Mr Filby, Felixstowe, December 2009
The house was wonderful in every aspect. It was helped by a foot of snow outside, but the Christmas tree and hamper on arrival made us all feel very festive! The house is large and easily accommodated 8 of us. The website photos don't do it justice - it's much more attractive in the flesh. Will be returning in the summer for a barbecue no doubt.
Mr Homer, Birmingham, December 2009
A beautifully presented cottage in a lovely area. We particularly appreciated having leaflets with suggested walks available.
Mrs Hughes, Truro, December 2009
The property is of an excellent standard and it felt very homely. It had enough space which enabled our group of 8 to dine and relax together comfortably.
