Filey is a traditional English seaside resort, with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a seaside resort since Victorian times. The town is set affront the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand with Filey Brigg to the North with its shallow rock pools. The town itself seems almost caught in a timewarp, retaining much of its character, with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where the local fishermen keep their boats, and delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated with pony rides on the beach, children’s play areas, crazy golf and candy floss! Nearby, Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks and Bempton Cliffs are a haven for bird lovers. A short drive brings you to the much busier town of Scarborough. Plenty to discover and explore in this lovely area.

Step back in time in this family-orientated haven and enjoy donkey rides on the beach, candy floss and traditional fish and chips! Alternatively, take a walk to ‘Coble Landing’, not far from your Filey holiday apartment, where the fishing boats are hauled ashore, or just beyond to Filey Brigg with fascinating rock pools to explore. With the town’s amenities and pretty parks to enjoy you may find little need to use the car. If you do fancy exploring further though, Bempton Cliffs, a bird watcher’s paradise, Flamborough Head and Scarborough are all very close and well worth a visit.
