About the location

Filey

Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort, with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a seaside resort since Victorian times. The town is set affront the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand with Filey Brigg to the North with its shallow rock pools. The town itself seems almost caught in a timewarp, retaining much of its character, with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where the local fishermen keep their boats, and delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated with pony rides on the beach, children's play areas, crazy golf and candy floss! Nearby, Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks and Bempton Cliffs are a haven for bird lovers. A short drive brings you to the much busier town of Scarborough. Plenty to discover and explore in this lovely area.

We had a fantastic holiday, perfect location for getting to the beach and surrounding places. Very dog friendly complex. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Miss Hill, Sheffield, April 2014

Great apartment in an excellent location to explore the local area of Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough and Filey. Enjoyed the on-site facility of the swimming pool.

Miss Sharp, Preston, March 2014

It was a perfect place to get away from it all. It is in a quiet spot and is like a home from home, all the comforts without the hassle. In a nice location for the beach and not far to drive to other coastal areas.

Mrs Spence, Leeds, February 2014

The location of the apartment was excellent with good access to the meadow alongside for dog walks. Also there is decent access to the beach which, when reached, opens onto six miles of quiet sands from Filey Brigg to Bempton Cliffs. Easy access to Filey itself, Flamborough Head, Sewerby and Bridlington is another bonus. It really is a smashing stretch of the English coastline. The pub is not far away with good food, decent beer and internet access. Phone signals are sometimes hard to find. Sports facilities were very good with a good pool in which it possible to swim properly; it is not just a playpool! Despite our being there in February for two weeks, the apartment was very warm and the bathroom was excellent.

Mrs Hughes, Bishop Auckland, January 2014
