  • "Nicely situated cottage."

Close to shops and pubs that serve food.

  • "Flamborough is lovely - a real sense of community, good food shops (particularly the butchers) and lots of places to eat out."

Everyone was so friendly. The property is quite small but we managed 4 adults for a week with no problems. It is clean and well equipped, We would be happy to go there again. From previous reviews I would like to say - we had plenty of towels - the Wifi is a bit slow sometimes but there were no big issues - parking is fine - plenty of free spaces very near by - there were clear instructions about recycling

  • "We have stayed in Harry’s cottage several times and never been disappointed, the cottage isn’t large but is ideal as a base for days out to Filey, Bridlington, Scarborough, Whitby and many more places."

It’s ideally placed if you like walking, Danes dyke is a great place with a beach walk and cliff top walks. There’s plenty of pubs serving food and two excellent restaurants and two chip shops plus a pizza place.

  • "Lovely, homely, well presented, clean and well equipped cottage."

Re previous reviews - there was a bath towel and a hair towel provided for each person. There was washing up liquid and two tea towels, so we used one tea towel in the downstairs WC for drying hands as no hand towel was provided.I can recommend the cottage to others looking, yes it is small, but so long as not everyone is walking about at the same time it is OK. We looked at the photo's so we could see the size of the rooms and the fact that one bed is against the wall with a wardrobe at the bottom so requires climbing over someone to get out, cant complain if you look at the pictures, we were quite happy. (Suggestions: provide a small hand towel for both sinks downstairs and another for the bathroom upstairs; change the description wording of "outside communal space" which kind of suggests perhaps a shared courtyard/seating area and there is only a ten foot/alley down the back of the terraced houses where bins are kept, it isn't really a helpful description).

  • "On the plus side, the cottage was a perfect size for myself and my friend."

The place was clean and fairly well equipped. We were able to park about 100 yards away, although I hadn't expected the double yellow lines outside the cottage. The space was OK for two of us, but we thought that five might have been very crowded. There was a welcome pack of tea, milk and Quality Street, which was nice. On the negative side, the cottage was cold when we arrived and the internet didn't work. We did phone the contact number but there was no reply. A lady phoned and said sometimes the wifi signal was poor, but wasn't any more help than that. We managed to get it working, but nobody followed up on the issue. We also got the heating working by turning it up really high and turning it down again at night (so it was cold in the morning when we got up). We were provided with towels but one handtowel and one bathtowel wasn't really enough. We paid for a cottage that sleeps five but were only given towels for two and no extra handtowels in either the loo or bathroom. There was a washing machine, but I feel a dishwasher would have been more useful. Finally, there were no instructions for disposal of rubbish, recycling, heating controls or anything else. I tried to work it out but ended up bringing the recycling home. Many of these comments have been made before. It's a shame that nothing has been done about any of the issues.

  • "We were concerned after reading comments about how small the cottage is, the third bed being a child sized bed but for the three of us all adults we have had a relaxing holiday and all three of us slept well including the child sized bed!"

We did have problems with the smoke alarm in the kitchen on the first day as it went off several times but as long as the extractor fan is on we then had no issues. It would have beef great to have a laminated information about which bin to use for recycling and what is accepted. I personally had no mobile signal but my daughter did and the internet dropped out several times. Yes we recommend and would go back

Everywhere in the property you couldnt open a door without a sink /a fire/chairs a vacum cleaner .This was the first holiday cottage where there was not some sort of book giving directions on how to use TV /washing machine /heating and other information.

House was small, and difficult to dry things but this was reflected in the price. The tea bags, milk and chocolates were very much appreciated.

  • "Really comfy & cosy cottage."

Great location in the centre of Flamborough close to fab pubs, chip shop, cafe & butchers. The cottage was very well fitted out, clean and a great place to recharge after days out. (The only thing we might have benefited from would be one or two larger pans for cooking in the kitchen, but a minor improvement!) thanks

We stayed as a couple but would imagine it would be a tight squeeze for 5 adults. The only downside to Harry's is a lack of an outside seating area which we would have found handy.all in all though would recommend and stay again.

  • "I booked Harry's cottage on behalf of my mum & niece who don't have internet access."

First impressions of the cottage were very good, it was very clean, smelt fresh and had everything they needed. The beds were a bit too firm for their liking but they managed. My mum said the bedding and towels were very good quality and immaculate. The house next door looked like it was being renovated so bags of building supplies outside made it look a bit of an eye saw but that's no fault of Harry's cottage owner. On the day of leaving, I was collecting them as my mum don't drive and got stuck in traffic so didn't get there till 10.35. The owner had been round to clean and my mum said she was very nice and said she'd come back in half hour. This meant my mum didn't have to stand outside with all her belongings in the rain so thank you for that, it was appreciated. My mum and niece enjoyed their holiday and said they would book it again.

  • "Harry's cottage was advertised for 5 people."

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining kitchen (albeit advertised as having just 4 dining chairs).Living area plus garden/patio. The bedrooms were as described, on two floors, with 2 double rooms and a single. (The bottom sheets were all very 'bobbled' but the bedding was clean and serviceable.) The living area had one sofa to seat only 4 and so the 5th member of our group had to sit on the floor, (insufficient room to bring in a dining chair). The kitchen had all items described...the problems were that to get to the downstairs toilet (2nd bathroom...off the kitchen) you had to move two dining chairs every time. To get to the fridge freezer you also had to move 2 dining chairs. The door between the living area and kitchen could not be fully opened due to the positioning of the dining table and chairs.......positioned in the only space available in the kitchen. The washing machine would have been a bonus, except that there was no space to dry any washing inside and no facility outside the property. There was no garden/patio whatsoever. On stepping out the rear door there was a narrow communal rough path, leading to one of the public houses. Parking was advertised as close by, but on occasion we had to drive 'around the block' several times to find a space. The main problem was that the property was not suitable for 5 people. In our case we had three children, so not all large adults and the downstairs area was certainly not large enough for comfort. In addition the property adjoining was being renovated, lumps of concrete and stacks of wood covered the entire rear of the property. The property opposite was also being renovated with new windows and pipe work. Whenever we were in the property, the noise was horrendous. The whole area was very noisy. We have used Sykes cottages before and would consider doing so again. Overall this property just did not meet our expectations for a family of 5.

  • "We found the cottage very nice, and the quality of the refurbishment very good."

Although the rooms are quite small they are very comfortable. I agreed with another persons comment on the double bed size, as its up against the wall on one side, its difficult for the person on that side to get out in the night to frequent the toilet. And as I have to do this I had to sleep in the single bed. We had no problem with the shower as you just have to know how to use it, but I would suggest a larger shower head. There is a washing machine but there isn't anywhere outside to dry it, due to a passage way to other ajoined houses. But we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. J Warburton

  • "Had a great week at Harry's, the cottage was lovely, really clean and well decorated."

Felt very homely and was very quiet. Bedrooms were a bit of a squeeze but were decorated beautifully. There was everything you needed in house and was milk, teabags, coffee and box of chocolates left for us when we arrived which was nice. Would highly recommend Harry's cottage.

  • "The Shower is not the greatest to be honest."

The heat is over excessive or freezing, there is no inbetween. We then ran a bath, the hot water is not hot, but warm. The table in the kitchen is too big. The kitchen door hits the upright of the wall and due to the table being in the way when the door is open, getting to the downstairs toilet or fridge/freezer is a problem. Otherwise, a lovely little house. Would stay again if items above were fixed.

  • "Comfortable small terraced house in the centre of Flamborough."

Two pubs that do excellent food just minutes from the door, a Co-Op five minutes walk away, a fish shop around the corner and a Post Office/Newsagent opposite. I used the bus from Brid to get here and get about, which was easy to each Flamborough Head and North Landing. Lots of walks close by too. The house was clean and tidy, the owners kindly left some milk and chocolates (thank you!), the bed was comfortable, and living room too, but some rooms felt a little 'crowded' with furniture which it was easy to bump into. Was great for my weekend, but not sure I'd want a week here. The listing mentions a 'communal area' out the back but all I found was a side road and some bins? Ideal for a short break.

  • "Consider small tables for drinks etc in living room."

Consider instruction for TV. Consider fan for bedroom(very warm house). Low comfort mark is due to bed access from one side only meaning climbing over partner to get out. Comments only not complaints. Enjoyed it.
