Here, the traditional market square is surrounded by hotels, shops and tearooms. An important area historically, Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage's Rievaulx Abbey is close by. An excellent walking area, ideal for exploring the surrounding moors with their hidden dales and villages. York and Scarborough are less than an hour’s drive and Pickering with its famous steam railway just a 20 minute drive.

Two lovely country inns and a pretty duck pond complete this lovely village setting, whilst the market town of Helmsley, with its traditional village square, numerous hotels, tearooms and quaint shops plus a 12th century castle, is within a few minutes drive. An excellent area for walking, exploring the North York Moors or taking a trip to the seaside and to the historical City of York.
