"A delightful property."
Very comfortable and very warm, with a very efficient heating system. Lovely view of the garden and very handy for town with the added bonus of parking. Be aware that there is a technique to parking at this property and you may need to move your car after you have seen the diagram in the flat. It would be helpful if Sykes would send this information out with the confirmation of booking. There is a welcome pack of milk, wine and a pack of Botham's biscuits which is greatly appreciated. There are some teabags and sugar sachets to start you off, but no condiments, so bring your own salt/pepper shakers. For people new to Whitby, the apartment information would benefit from a map or diagram showing the nearest shops for buying groceries. There is a very well equipped kitchen with everything you need to self cater - but no oven gloves (we tend to carry our own so not an issue for us). The apartment has tea towels, wiping cloth and washing up sponge provided. The crockery is very high quality and there are several different size pans. There isn't a dishwasher, but there is a small freezer downstairs in the understairs cupboard. Shower is lovely and there is information regarding the hot water in the taps being slightly low pressure, which is very helpful. The shower itself has a pump and is the rainfall type. We do find that the listing is out of date: it states that towels are not provided (still has the covid listings on the website), but they were though the towels were standard towels, not bath sheets, so if you like a bigger towel you may need to pack one still. The towels were very nice and fluffy though. The bedroom is quite limited space wise between the end of the bed and the window. This may be an issue for those with mobility concerns who can manage stairs but may find manoeuvring in confined spaces more difficult. The bed is also quite soft but comfortable enough for most I would think, I just prefer a firmer mattress due to back issues. There is plenty of space for cases, plenty of storage options and hooks on the backs of all doors for hanging items. There is hanging and boot space downstairs when you enter the property. There is an eclectic collection of books and DVDs and plenty of sockets for the inevitable recharging of electronic equipment. We really like this apartment when visiting family though it is obviously very popular as we can't always book it. I would recommend highly.

"A lovely apartment for my last minute Christmas getaway."
Very homely feel throughout ,adequately stocked kitchen, hair dryer and iron were a bonus. I loved the Christmas decorations and it was a nice touch leaving wine, milk and biscuits. A quiet and cosy apartment, very comfy bed and the shower was spot on and easy to use. The location is fabulous, 10 min walk into Whitby centre, slightly longer return as its uphill but this wasn't an issue personally as I'm a hiker. The driveway was adequate for 3 cars, I didn't drive at all during my stay as it was so convenient to walk into Whitby. I wouldn't change a thing.

"Clean, comfortable and warm apartment which we enjoyed staying at."
We were easily able to walk into Whitby centre and it is a good base for seeing the surrounding area. Car parking space is an absolute bonus and takes the stress out of finding roadside parking. We understood from the details we needed to bring towels, which we did, but forgot a bath mat. Could this be added as a reminder alongside towels for future holidaymakers? Thank you, we really recommend Stakesby House Apartments.

"Enjoyable stay."
However, the bed is so creaky it wakes you up which is not ideal. I think there needs to be clarity on the listing about what’s not included at the apartment.
-
"Excellent apartment as a base to walk into whitby and visit the surrounding villages."
Our 2nd stay in this lovely apartment and will definetly return. Parking a big bonus too.
-
"Needs a interior uplift."
paint coming off some walls, stair rail upright post loose , also top post. freezer under stairs, stood on rickety camp size table,Overall it was dingy.Would not recommend, best thing was parking facility.

"A lovely place to stay, just uphill from the centre of Whitby."
Rooms are a good size. There were a few niggles, however, that could be easily improved - for example providing two sets of keys would mean we didn't need to use the key safe (especially as this was difficult to use when the sun was shining on it). Cleaning products were minimal with nothing provided for wiping surfaces. It would simplify parking if the parking spaces were marked out, rather than putting this information inside the flat. The information provided by Sykes was inaccurate as it says towels can not be provided due to covid regulations - that has been incorrect for a long time. Also a fridge and freezer are provided (although the freezer is underneath the staircase - we only found it by accident when looking for cleaning materials!)
-
"Parking tight but manageable- unless someone had a SUV or similar."
A note saying the freezer was under the stairs would be helpful. We found it by accident. Bed really uncomfortable - sorry folks but we didn’t sleep well at all. Sitting room, bathroom and kitchen nice and clean and everything worked.
-
"Great location and comfy apartment."
There is insufficient WiFi connection for the property. Bathroom is outstanding but the bed could do with an upgrade. Welcome pack needs sorting to remove content promoting businesses that aren't trading.

"Lovely home from home apartment."
Ideally placed, very well equipped & comfortable apartment
-
"Lovely well equipped apartment not to far from harbour, need to be reasonbly fit though as there are a few steep inclines each way."
Some good coastal walks to work up a appetite.
-
"An immaculate and cosy tasteful apartment."
I wish every property was of this standard.

"Our stay at the apartment was very comfortable."
The property is in a great position to enjoy the delights of Whitby and surrounding areas. We enjoyed our holiday very much and would recommend the accommodation and will return in the future. May I suggest a change of bedding for fortnightly guest would be much appreciated.

"Enjoyable few days in a first class apartment and thank you for the gift."
-
"An exceptional apartment in a beautiful garden, and with parking so close to town."
Having a separate kitchen to the sitting room is an added bonus, especially as it has a view across the lovely gardens. Despite being on a busy road, the apartment is remarkably quiet. We have stayed in many places in Whitby as we have family in the area, and this is by far the best we have used - wish we had found you earlier! The only comment I would make is that the bed is very close to the radiator and may be limiting for some people, which might be something that could be included in the description. All in all, highly recommended.

"The apartment was very stylish and decorated with art and ornaments to complement the North Yorkshire Moors and coast."
The mattress was a little tired, sagged in the middle. The garden had great potential but could do to be tidied up and seating added if guests wished to sit out in the warmer weather and admire all the birds the owner had attracted with nest boxes.

"From parking the car up we loved this place."
Lovely garden. Close enough to town to walk there and back. So quiet! As I walked up the stairs it was light and airy. Everywhere is beautifully decorated. Furniture and fittings are quality. Very well equipped. Although we only had two nights we felt like we had had a long weekend so relaxed home from home. We will be back .

"A lovely apartment."
Clean and comfortable. Close to West Cliff area. 10-15 minute walk into centre of Whitby (uphill coming back!) Parking space a bonus. I would definitely recommend this apartment.

"Property was very good."
Not a huge problem, but disappointed no towels were supplied, dont understand the reason for this when dish towels and bedding were supplied.
-
"Fantastic find, this apartment had everything, big bonus was the off road parking."
Will stay here again when we visit Whitby. Cannot compliment the owners enough, everything was well thought out and made to feel comfortable and relaxed. Whitby never fails to please love this place made all the better for Stakesby house.

"Very nice and clean, felt at home."
Thanks.
-
"Great position away from the town centre but within walking distance."
Buses run every 30 minutes if you can't manage the walk back. The apartment is tastefull furnished and decorated, very clean and well equipped although just a minor point: perhaps a couple of serving spoons and a slice to lift food off the baking tray would be useful. Otherwise we cannot fault it and would recommend it without any hesitation.
-
"Excellent apartment."
Thank you very much. Just read the leaving instructions properly and realised we forgot to strip the beds. SORRY.
-

"Yes. Arrival could have been so much better."
Confusion with another couple arriving at same time & wanted access to our flat. They had same key box code, eventually it was sorted when they’d spoken to their agent, but it was not a great start to the holiday for everyone. Please ask the owner /manager to kindly do three things: 1) label each flat door A, B, C 2) change key box code so that the three different flats have three different codes. 3) the front drive desperately needs the house name, SatNav is a bit erratic so we weren’t exactly sure we’d arrived until we saw the back garden for which we had seen photos on your website. We will re-book next year, thank you.

"It was just what we wanted."
The location was perfect. Off road parking was ideal. The property was clean, we'll equipped. We would definitely recommend this place. The welcome gifts was an added bonus. Thank you

"We had a lovely stay."
The cottage was beautifully decorated and clean. I would say the only negative feedback and it is only minor is the signage or lack of it at the front of the property. We drove past numerous times before having to get out of car and check house numbers. It doesn't also state that there is a up hill walk back to the house from the centre of Whitby which ever way you take, which for some people could be a problem. Great for walkers though. Perhaps having a hairdryer available in bedroom would be a nice touch and the welcome gift which is a lovely touch could have tea bags added to the milk and biscuits. Having said all that the location especially the rear gardens are lovely and the area which the property is located is also very nice and quiet. We would recommend this property to stay in and wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.
