  • "This was our second time to The Bay but the first one at Blue Skye, it certainly won’t be our last!"

! After the first day we already started looking to book again. The owners have thought of everything and the welcome pack was such a lovely touch. This truly was a home from home! Thank you for having such a welcoming home and we will be back very soon

  • "Beautifully presented home from home."

Spotlessly clean with attention to detail. Obviously on a complex so not for those who seek a rural retreat . We loved the easy access to the beach and the added bonus of pool and steam room. Only downside is all spaces are open so no garden for dog/ children. We love the area and this was a great base . Booked the Bay again in June sadly this property was already reserved .

… A beautiful well appointed cottage, everything you could possibly need and more, welcome pack is a lovely touch and a great starter for newbys that haven’t been to the bay before. The cleaning could be better ( as we’ve noticed in other cottages/apartments ) and the bedding ( duvet cover ) was bitty and extremely tired looking, obviously out of the owners hands and really didn’t detract from the fabulous break we enjoyed, just thought it should be mentioned. Many thanks Diane J.

Blue Skye has everything that you would need and is in a lovely location. Particularly love the layout of this property and having a double bed in the second bedroom is a great idea. Mostly there are single beds or bunk beds. For us extra marks for comfortable beds as in the majority of accommodations the mattresses are far too soft. Thank you.

  • "The cottage was very pleasant."

It provided a great base to make into our personal space. It was clean and had lots of additional extra equipment e.g. icemaker, slow cooker etc. The listing on the website shows a picture of a bath. A shower unit has been installed in 2021. Not a problem, but do like a soak. The property had its usual wear and tear issues, but in view of footfall not surprised. My view is if we all treat it as our own, the next guest is less inclined to feel that the property needs further cleaning. We had a great stay. Thank you.

Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lounge great corner sofa, separate chair with a foot stool, tv lots of channels via digital watching. Lots of games and books if you want an alternative to the TV. Plenty of cutlery and plates so using the dishwasher was easy. Washing machine, slow cooker and even an ice making machine. The heating was self regulated so always comfortable. The beds were super comfy, great walk in shower. Lots of storage space to keep everything neat and tidy. Would definitely stay again.

The house was very clean and comfortable and the little welcome packs were a nice touch. We would definitely stay there again. The only down side we found was that the pub John Paul Jones was priced way over the top - a large glass of wine and a pint of beer was £15.00. really not on considering the size of the complex.

  • "The cottage was fabulous, every creature comfort you could imagine and so much more."

We’ve stayed at the bay Filey a few times now and find the privately owned property’s are far in front of the holding company’s. An abundance of tea and coffee in all forms as well as a welcome pack which apart from the biscuit ( which were scrumptious ) was not really necessary as with the cleaning welcome pack, so many products under the sink ! The bed was very comfortable and the shower always hot, plenty of towels and clean smelling bedding. The large jar of dog treats were very much enjoyed! The only down side was the dirty finger marks on most of the cupboards in the kitchen ( of which I cleaned most of them off ) and the small tvs upstairs. Over all a wonderful week of home from home relaxation, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage Blue Skye to any one who asked. Lovely.

The beds were exceptionally comfy and very good quality, mattresses, bedding and pillows. You may laugh but when you sleep well the holiday is a holiday! The place accepts dogs but as non dog owners we were pleased to find that it didn't smell of dogs and wasn't much evidence of them being there before us. Very homely and well equipped. Loved our stay. The bay itself is a lovely well kept resort. quiet (at least in January ) we had no parking issues and enjoyed the use of the archery, table tennis and swimming pool. Proximity to beach is fab down a well maintained path. Only improvement I could think of is an outside tap for washing boots (and dogs) after a welly walk on the beach. Perhaps the site has one that I didn't see?

Location is perfect. However we have a one year old daughter and we didn't realise there was no bath until we got there. We will definitely recommend this house to our friends.

We do have a brand new, collapsible child bath suitable for children 0-6 years which is stored with the travel cot in the landing cupboard, as stated in Sykes information as well as the house directory. Also in the bathroom there is a bath stool for the parent to sit on when bathing the child. We will put a notice in the bathroom to re-iterate this information. Property Owner

The only issue we had was with the parking, very difficult to find a space close to the property, this was not helped by one of the people close by having people over for the day taking up numerous spaces. I think this is something the resort/sykes should be looking at. Also the pub on site is very overpriced for the menu on offer.

Really enjoyed our stay here, appreciated the welcome pack and use of the table tennis bats. The welcome guide the owners provide was useful too. Didn't give full marks for everything as the double bed in bedroom 1 wasn't comfortable (far too soft!), the house could have been cleaner on arrival (dusty in places, house didn't smell clean) and the dishwasher isn't very good. The site itself is absolutely great, very clean and well maintained withe lots of amenities. The property was very clean, roomey and very well equipped and set in a very convenient location. The one thing that took the edge of it was the downstairs toilet which was broken, I was told about this, but I was told it would be repaired by the time we got there. This was not the case as it was not fixed by the time we left. When we had family visitors for a day it meant we had one toilet for seven of us, which was not ideal, hence why I booked a house with two toilets. Putting this aside I will definitely book again for a short break.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
