    Privacy was also an issue as there were people coming past either to go to the side garden from next door or to change gas bottles, dustbins etc, On the face of it the place was well equipped but poor storage for clothes etc was problematic, the position of the bed was in front of the emergency window, trying to work out how we would escape this way [especially my husband who is disabled with mobility issues].

It was a little expensive for the size of the property but despite that it was a really lovely stay and great for small dog or two.

    Just enough for the first night and morning. We normally expect a new roll plus a spare. Unsatisfactory toaster. Not a recognised make. The electricity in the cottage went off when we attempted to toast slices of currant bread. Even ordinary bread toasted unevenly on the two sides. Suggest a better quality toaster is provided to replace it.

It is immaculately clean and very easy to keep tidy; it also has its own private parking space. The Bowser family are lovely and close at hand should their guests need anything.

    There was a pint of milk in the fridge alongside 6 free range eggs. The accommodation was excellent. We found it warm and cosy, very clean and tidy and the facilities in the cottage were second to none. We would recommend this accommodation to anybody wanting to explore East Yorkshire.     Couldn't have chosen a better place! The cottage was in a lovely location with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Pretty garden and good quality furnishings. Louise was a very welcoming host - happy to help us with questions we had about the area. We would also recommend the nearby pub - The New Inn for a very friendly and comfortable place to eat and socialise. Welcoming to children with good food at very reasonable prices. We really relaxed and recharged our batteries! Also the city tour of Hull with Paul Schofield was fascinating and well worth considering.

Beverley with its beautiful Minster and the seaside town of Hornsea are just short drives away, whilst a public footpath leads from the door.

Leven Cottages

These two attractive barn conversions, adjoin the owner's property in the East Yorkshire village of Leven, close to Beverley and Hornsea. Finished to a high standard, they have retained the original arched windows and share an enclosed sunny lawned garden with summerhouse. Inside, they have contemporary well-equipped kitchens and modern shower rooms. Comfortably furnished, they have a lovely homely feel and provide welcoming accommodation throughout. Surrounded by open countryside, there is a public footpath from the doorstep and the excellent village facilities are a short stroll, with a wide range of amenities. They provide a good base from which to explore the nearby east coast seaside towns, including Hornsea and the beautiful headland at Flamborough. The market town of Beverley with its minster, is just five miles away and offers a wide range of affluent retail shops, galleries, restaurants and a regular market. The popular racecourse lies alongside the golf course, which both skirt Beverley Westwood, a common land which is a great place to take your dog. With the rolling chalk hills of the Wolds and the spectacular City of York easy drives away there is plenty to occupy all the family.

Hull 8.4 miles; Bridlington 22.4 miles; York 30 miles.

The historic market town of Beverley, with its Gothic Minster and bustling twice weekly market, is a great base for a holiday. Beverley is full of history and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from, including the Tiger Inn, The Marne and The Highfield in Beverley, as well as the excellent Beverley and East Riding Golf Club, Mirage Cocktail Bar, and the wildlife rich Beverley Parks. Be sure to time your visit right to attend the annual Beverley Races which take place from April through to September. Next stop is the bustling city of Hull, home the popular Deep Aquarium, the BBL Nature Reserve, Streetlife Museum, Hull New Theare, Dinostar and the remarkable Hull Minster. For a day along the coast, head to Bridlington, where you can spend a day on the beach, catch a live performance at Bridlington Spa, sample fresh seafood at the Lobster Pot, visit the beloved attractions of Bridlington Animal Park and John Bull World of Rock, or continue onto Flamborough, where you can spot the local wildlife from the stunning RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Further afield, you’ll find the historic city of York, home to the magnificent York Minster, York Castle Museum, the National Railway Museum, York Dungeons, York Chocolate Story and the National Trust site of Treasurer’s House. From Beverley, the popular locations of North York Moors and the East Coast seaside towns of Hornsea, Scarborough and Whitby are all within easy reach.
