  • "A lovely warm welcome from Heather."

The cottage was very clean and well equipped and had everything we needed. WiFi worked well. We had a very relaxed week there in a beautiful village, which is quiet and off the beaten track. We ate at The Horsehoe Inn on 3 evenings - it's all of 100 yards away and the food is superb. I have just marked comfort down one spot because the settee was a bit uncomfortable for me but I am a heavy man. It was fine for my wife! Overall, excellent. Thank you, Heather.

Thank you for your comments. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the late response I had missed your feedback. Property Owner

No issues during the stay, had the confidence from Heather that is anything was needed the support and help would be available and dealt with quickly. Wifi available if needed with good connection and no issues. Levisham Station worth a visit ‘TopOf The World’ some great scenery for photo’s. Peaceful, chilled setting, good location and base for nearby attractions and visits. Horseshoe Inn food excellent, service and staff very friendly. A very relaxing stay and everything we needed, some lovely peaceful walks with lots of time to unwind, local villagers extremely friendly. Road up to the village a little daunting initially but once done, isnt an issue, lots of passing places and leads to a wonderful place, lovely.

Thank you very much for your glowing review. I try to ensure that all guests have all they need to have a relaxing and peaceful stay. I am so glad that you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

The cottage is beautiful and very cosy . Heather greeted us on arrival and the home made cakes were lovely and a very welcoming thought . The garden was great for our two dogs with plenty of space and a very peaceful setting to enjoy coffee or a meal outside( which we did) . Would highly recommend this cottage and the friendly owner a great getaway and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there . 10/10

  • "Very disappointing regarding the dog facilities."

The grass area which looked on the website was adjacent to the Cottage was in fact the across the drive. This meant the door could not be left open for the dog to go out on it's own. The stairs were a problem for my partner who has a disability problem and which is not mentioned on the holiday information.

I am disappointed you were not happy with your choice of Harvest Cottage. I feel the photos are excellent representations of the cottage. The photos clearly show the drive which passes in front of the cottages and that they are on two floors. The stairs have a sturdy bannister rail but I understand any stairs may be difficult for those with disabilities. The lovely large shared walled garden is enclosed and very safe for dogs. I am sorry you did not feel you could stay longer but glad that the items I posted on to you arrived safely. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay here for 5 nights ."

Bed was so comfortable never wanted to get up. Sofa not so comfortable. As the weather was warm we had a huge problem with flies, could not keep door and windows closed as to hot. So ended up buying fly spray. Host was very welcoming and it’s the most stunning place we have seen,( the village)

I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Harvest Cottage. Flies are not usually a problem at Levisham, perhaps it was because of the sudden arrival of very hot weather causing many to hatch during your stay. I try very hard to ensure that the cottage is thoroughly cleaned each week and guess your cleanliness score was down to the flies. I totally agree that Levisham is stunning especially in this glorious sunshine! Property Owner

  • "Nice cottage in the perfect spot for a peaceful holiday."

Fabulous walks just out of the door. Owners are lovely and so helpful with local amenities and walks. There is only one quite challenging road in so better if you have a 4x4. Really nice pub in the village that does lovely food.

It was lovely to welcome you to Harvest Cottage and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The beauty of the North York Moors National Park is created by the wonderful views which you enjoyed from the hilltops during your many walks. Whilst a 4x4 can be useful during particularly wintery weather I have lived in the village for over 40 years and use a small 2 wheel drive vehicle on the council road to the village with no issues, perhaps you just need more practice! It would be lovely to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "I enjoyed my stay here."

The owner was kind and helpful. The property is idealy situated for moors and coast. I did find the storage heaters challenging to use in the variable weather conditions, It was either too hot or too cold. I personally found the mattress uncomfortable, it was not firm enough. The decor is probably due a revamp, not worn out or tatty, more a case of tastes changing.

Thank you for taking time to write your review of your stay in Harvest Cottage. I am sorry that you did not call next door and ask me to adjust the heaters during your stay. Heating details are in my "Guest Information" folder. I have many repeat guests to Harvest Cottage and others must find the mattress and decor to their liking, sorry it was not for you. I am glad that generally you enjoyed your stay and the ideal location of the cottage. Property Owner

Such a lovely couple. Harvest cottage was just perfect. Spotless, cosy just perfect for myself, hubby and our dogs. I thought the welcome pack was a lovely gesture too. Location was perfect for what we had planned to do in Yorkshire. Moors, dales and the coast all so easy to get to. Locals in village we so friendly too. Pub was great for food. This holiday was planned around Mattewsons Auctions bangers for cash on yesterday tv. Such a great finish to our holiday we won our item. Looking forward to our next one.

Thank you for your appreciative comments, Lisa. I work hard to try and ensure that guests find the cottage clean, warm and welcoming and it is good to know that you enjoyed your holiday. I look forward to welcoming you both back to Harvest Cottage. Property Owner

It is situated on a working farm but it is quiet and peaceful. The owners are very friendly and helpful and when we arrived homemade cakes and tea were waiting for us. It is situated close to a number of good walks and some detailed walks are provided in the cottage. WIthin minutes you are out onto the moors and a must do walk to the Hole of Horcum is not too strenuous. Great pub just a hundred yards or so away with tables outside. We booked meals here 3 weeks before our trip which turned out to be good idea as it is very popular. Friendly staff and excellent meals. Easy travel to Pickering and Hutton le Hole etc. Quite a narrow road leading to the village but there are plenty of passing spaces. Will definitely go again. Many thanks to Heather the owner.

  • "We had a great week in Harvest Cottage."

It is a very sweet cottage with everything you need for a break away. We were given a lovely welcome by Heather and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and clean. We have been to many cottages around the UK with our dog and this is definitely one of the best. Levisham is a lovely village with a fabulous pub (The Horseshoe Inn) but make sure you book beforehand, they get very busy (especially at Sunday lunchtime). Lots of great places to explore in the area and the North York Moors Railway is wonderful.

The village, like the cottage, is immaculate and the pub serves great food and a range of beers and wines in a traditional, homely environment. There are numerous walks around the area, for every ability and it’s not far to the coast to visit Whitby. Heather, the owner, is cheerful and friendly and we felt that nothing would have been too much trouble if we’d asked, but we didn’t have to because it was already perfect! We highly recommend this cottage; a home from home and a haven of calm and tranquility in one of Britain’s most beautiful areas.

About the location

LEVISHAM

Pickering 6 miles; Whitby 17 miles; York 32 miles.

The tiny, picturesque village of Levisham sits high on the Yorkshire Moors, to the north of Pickering. The village is made up of a cluster of farms, attractive neat stone cottages with pretty gardens, and a village green. There is a pub and church in the village, with further amenities in Pickering. Levisham Beck, which rises in the nearby Hole of Horcum (where the devil is said to have fallen to earth) flows along a steep wooded valley near the village, and at its foot there is a water mill and small waterfall. The area is a maze of tracks and footpaths with some stunning scenery. The nearby Levisham station (in Newtondale) is a stopping point on the North York Moors Steam Railway, beyond which lies Cropton Forest. The area is conveniently located for visiting castles, and historic houses, touring moorland villages and exploring the many fishing communities along the coast, including popular Whitby.
