  • "The lodge is lovely, clean, cosy and peaceful."

It's a shame there isn't a list of information about local stuff as there are walks in the area but we only discovered the leaflets on our last day. Skinningrove and the Land of Iron are nearby and worth a visit. The library in Loftus has leaflets. Also useful to know about the food shops available in Loftus. I would recommend the Lodges as they are a good base. There are a couple of free car parks in Loftus and you can travel a fair distance on the bus.

  • "Had a wonderful few days at sycamore lodge."

Accomodation was very comfortable, cosy, and quiet, with just about everything we needed for an enjoyable break! Short drive to nearest beach (skinningrove) which was a dog walkers paradise, and only a few minutes further to Saltburn, again a quaint little seaside resort. Christine (the manager) was so friendly and helpful, with nothing being to much trouble. Will definitely be returning in the future. Thankyou for a great holiday!

Spotlessly clean on arrival. Well equipped and good quality towels and bed linen. The wood cladding of the lodge will need some attention fairly soon but that's more aesthetic. Thanks again.

  • "Relaxing 4 day break at Sycamore Lodge at the end of March."

The days were  mostly sunny so little need for heating but when needed the lodge warmed up quickly. It was clean and comfortable and the outside area was immaculate. The lounge furniture was different to photos on the website, which worked to our advantage because the rocker had been replaced (rocker and young dog may have been a hazard), the replacement sofa and chair were much better. Kitchen etc were well stocked with crockery and there was even picnic wear. Wifi info was out of date in the visitors book, so I updated it to 'check the back of the wifi hub', the signal was great. All was in good order apart from bath panel which was cracked at both ends and bathroom toilet rail which needed a bit of paint on brackets (but still in better condition than my own home!).The nearest village has little to offer but walk or drive a bit further to Loftus for groceries etc.  The lodge is well placed for trips to the beautiful coastal villages, Whitby, Scarborough and the moors. Friendly and helpful couples and dogs in the other lodges while we were there. Hope to visit again.

  • "Cleaning in the cottage could have been better."

There was food spillage in kitchen drawer and between cupboard and fridge. A larger fridge would be useful. In the bedroom there is a green light which you cannot turn off which shone in my eyes all might making sleep difficult. Cottage tired looking could do with updating. No local Information for use. E.G local shops doctors etc. Cottage is in very nice surroundings and quite.

Just a little bit isolated for us , need a car and cannot walk to beach. We enjoyed visiting lots of nice beaches from here by car , loved Runswick Bay and had great meals in pub in Staites . Great coast nearby and picturesque bays , met very friendly people . Thanks to friendly couple on site who helped us with our car problems

  • "The location is outside a small village with good views towards the coast."

It is situated on an immaculately kept site with owners who are a delight. The lodge is cosy, comfortable and has everything you need for a gentle and peaceful stay where you can relax and no one bothers you! We used it as a dog friendly base to explore the coast and the local shops have all you need but the big shops are within 10 to 15 minutes drive. There is a small caravan and mobile home park next door and vehicles come and go but there is none of the noise or hassle associated with bigger sites. The lodge is ideal for a no none sense, affordable break and has not been subjected to the ‘price hikes’ that we are seeing as we come out of COVID.

A lovely warm welcome from the host on arrival and very helpful when I had to ask when I couldn’t find the switch for the fire. Beautiful views of the coast from the window which I wasn’t expecting. My only disappointment was that WiFi was non existent although was listed. I checked we’d connected correctly as I had a work email to send but had to drive 5 miles to a fast food outlet to send it. I fully appreciate rural broadband is an issue in this country but maybe it should be removed from the listing as it was non existent. It was a beautifully clean, pleasant place and I was pleasantly surprised apart from the dreadful broadband

The owner was very obliging in anything he could do to make it comfortable. There was a problem with the doors sticking to open and close, this was due to the very hot weather which had distorted them.
