Located amid gentle hills between York and Malton, the peaceful village of Sheriff Hutton is steeped in history, with a ruined castle (built in 1382 and housing Richard III in 1483), and a medieval church with Norman tower dating from 1100, and which still has enclosed pews today. The village is delightful, with a small square and two pubs, both serving food, one dating back to the 1600s. Handily placed for touring, the City of York is only 11 miles away while the North York Moors steam railway in Pickering and the East coast seaside towns of Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough, as well as Whitby and Harrogate are all within an hour’s drive. Local activities abound and the area is excellent for walking, cycling and exploring.

A delightful, detached first floor studio apartment with lovely views, situated adjacent to the owner’s home in the village of Sheriff Hutton, beside the English Heritage historic site of Sheriff Hutton Castle. The recently renovated accommodation, originally used by the groom when horses were commonplace on this once working farm, has been decorated and finished to a high standard. Tastefully furnished throughout and with a warm and cosy atmosphere, the charming accommodation and spacious gardens provide a wonderful retreat for a romantic break or for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
