The pretty North Yorkshire village of Hovingham sits amidst the beautiful countryside of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is a real gem, with a beck running down the high street, two excellent inns, a traditional village shop, a tea room and a bakery. There are excellent walking and cycling opportunities from the village itself, as well as easy access to the beautiful National Park. The stately home and gardens of Castle Howard are just 4 miles away, and the market towns of Malton and Helmsley are 8 miles away. Historic York and the attractions of the East Coast are further afield but well worth the trip!
A delightful stone built, semi-detached cottage, nestling close to the beck in the picturesque village of Hovingham. The cottage has real charm and character, and has been lovingly renovated to provide a very comfortable, cosy retreat. There is an open fire in the living room and sloping ceilings in the bedrooms, while outside is a small, enclosed south facing garden, ideal for relaxing. Hovingham itself has amenities including two excellent inns and a village shop. Surrounded by the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is an ideal location from which to explore the surrounding area. Excellent walking and cycling opportunities are close by, whilst Nunnington Hall and the stately home and gardens of Castle Howard are just 4 miles away. The pretty market towns of Malton and Helmsley are both only 8 miles away and well worth visiting. An easy drive to the historic City of York and also to the East Coast seaside resorts makes this a most enjoyable holiday.

An excellent location; peaceful and not too far from towns.
Mr Shepherd, Clacton-on-Sea, September 2011
The cottage was excellent, very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the welcome pack of eggs, bread, milk and cake was a lovely touch. I would thoroughly recommend Waterside Cottage.
