Marske-by-the-Sea is a small, bustling coastal town with long, wide, sandy beaches. Originally an old fishing town, it has now grown considerably and is a mix of old and new with many amenities. There is a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, which cater for all the family. The town’s safe, sandy beaches, sand dunes and fishing boats are a big attraction. Nearby are attractions such as Captain Cook's birthplace, the mining museum and the Zetland lifeboat museum. The town is close to the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, and the numerous pretty inland villages and fishing villages such as Staithes and Runswick Bay. The old spa town of Saltburn is just 3 miles away and it's an easy drive to other seaside resorts such as Whitby. A great base from which to tour the area.

A modern, single storey detached cottage, situated in a courtyard just off the High Street in the centre of the coastal town of Marske-by-the-Sea. Originally an old stable, the property is well presented and tastefully decorated to combine a cosy atmosphere with all the conveniences of modern living. All the amenities of Marske are on the doorstep, including an excellent selection of pubs, restaurants and shops, whilst the lovely, sandy beach is just a five minute walk. There is much to enjoy in the area. Explore the quaint fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay with their cobbled streets and quirky cottages, or drive through the beautiful North York Moors with its stunning scenery. An ideal base for an enjoyable holiday.

From the first phone call to Sykes Cottages through to leaving the cottage we had excellent service, considering we booked the day we went, it was impressive. The gifts left buy the owners at the cottage were so unexpected and therefore most gratefully received, the boys loved the hot chocolate and I loved the wine. Top service, many thanks!
