The beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale lies just two miles to the east of Pickering within The North York Moors National Park. Much of its charm comes from its complicated shape - a fascinating jumble of streams and paths and pretty houses with an attractive village green which still has its wooden stocks and a market cross. The village offers a selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms. The nearby market town of Pickering offers a good range of amenities and the famous North York Moors Steam Railway. There are broad fields above and below the village and views to the south across the Vale of Pickering, whilst to the north is the Forestry Commission's Dalby Forest, with several excellent nature trails to be enjoyed. Further afield, but within driving distance, are the East Coast and The City of York.

The location was central to our needs and was in peaceful surroundings, just what we like.

Lovely cottage in a pretty rural village with lots to do in the surrounding area. Limited mobile phone reception meant we could really get away from it all. We've already recommended to friends and family.

We really enjoy staying at this property as we have stayed there several times.
