Location: Thornton-le-dale

Pickering 2 miles; Scarborough 16 miles; York 25 miles.

The beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale lies just two miles to the east of Pickering within The North York Moors National Park. Much of its charm comes from its complicated shape - a fascinating jumble of streams and paths and pretty houses with an attractive village green which still has its wooden stocks and a market cross. The village offers a selection of shops, pubs and tearooms. The nearby market town of Pickering offers a good range of amenities and the famous North York Moors Steam Railway. There are broad fields above and below the village and views to the south across the Vale of Pickering, whilst to the north is the Forestry Commission's Dalby Forest, with several excellent nature trails to be enjoyed. Further afield, but within driving distance, are the East Coast and The City of York.

Previous visitors' comments about The Old Coach House:

The location proved a good base for us to explore the area and the local facilities were very good.
Mr Harding, Tunbridge Wells, June 2011

Access to lots of places of interest. Village had all necessary facilities. Cottage good standard - since our guest were in their 80s single floor very useful.
Mr White, Barrow-in-Furness, May 2011

The peace and quiet of the location.
Mr Ruleman, Manchester, May 2011

This property is ideally located in a quiet road in the pretty village of Thornton-le-dale with plenty to do within a 20 mile radius. We found it a very relaxing place to stay and thoroughly enjoyed the week we had there.
