The property

A splendid, detached stone property, on the edge of the small village of Brompton-by-Sawdon, mid-way between Scarborough and Pickering.

This lovely cottage is well placed for families wishing to explore the superb scenery of the North York Moors National Park, and the seaside resorts on the east coast.

Comfortable and spacious throughout, the rooms are light and airy with large picture windows affording stunning countryside views over the Vale of Pickering.

Retaining much character, from beamed ceilings to exposed stone walls, the large, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen has a dining area to one side, while in the hall is an arched stained glass window and a second one of 'Punch' - a tribute to the former owner, a children's entertainer.

In the traditionally-furnished sitting room, there is a stone fireplace with a mantelpiece created from an old pulpit and a lovely, roaring open fire, just perfect for families to sit and relax by in the winter months.

Open tread wooden stairs, with a beautifully carved banister, lead up to the three bedrooms, two with a shared en-suite, whilst the third boasts a Jacuzzi bath and doors to a balcony with breathtaking views over the valley.

With bags of space to spread out, this warm and welcoming holiday home won't disappoint!

Outside, the expansive rear lawned garden is enclosed, enabling children to play, while adults can enjoy a glass of wine on the patio and watch the magnificent sunsets.

Brompton is on the edge of the Forge Valley, a beautiful stretch of countryside with ample walking and cycling opportunities.

Nearby, Dalby Forest is bound to be a big hit with the more adventurous, with its trails and Go Ape activity centre, whilst Pickering hosts the terminus of the famous North York Moors Steam Railway, which winds its way through the heather clad moors to Grosmont.

There are many museums and stately homes to visit, together with the pretty market towns of Malton, Pickering and Kirkbymoorside to discover.

This delightful cottage provides a good base for a varied and interesting break.
