  • "Nice cottage in a great location."

Dog friendly enclosed garden was ideal. Only comment I can make is the sofa wasn’t very comfy and I would have laminate floors throughout in a holiday let. However I can anticipate us making a return trip.

With our 3 dogs The cottage was clean warm and cozy and the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay perfect a proper home from home. The cottage is an ideal base to explore all the many beautiful walks and scenery that is on offer in this area. Before starting our holiday we was worried about taking the 3 dogs with us concerned that they may not settle in a strange property. we need not have worried as the dogs was so calm and relaxed from the moment we arrived The food at kaskanes was extremely good and is well worth a visit and they do takeaway which is an added bonus We will of course be booking again and can see ourselves making this a firm Favourite to return to again and again. Thank you so much for a wonderful break we hope to return soon

The dogs loved the nearby beach and the close by Kaskane cafe/bar served good food by very friendly staff. The area was ideal for touring North Yorkshire with local beauty spots close by. It was spotlessly clean, well furnished, the bed was comfy, there was enough cupboard space for 2 people and kitchen was adequately equipt apart from having some cooking tongues. A couple of minor quibbles. The bathroom could do with a small shelf for your toothbrushes etc. With it being dog friendly, a couple of dog water bowls would be handy and a floor mop to keep the hard floors clean and some spare bin bags; but these minor issues didn't distract us from having a great time and we will return.

The accommodation was even nicer than we expected. It was adequatly equiped for 2 or 3 people, though only just with crockery and cutlery. The only things we missed were a hair-drier and a shelf above the wash basin. If you wear glasses, that's a little awkward. There was a really good restaurant at the entrance to the site, popular and needing advance booking. Excellent food. Above all, we found everyone we met extremely friendly and helpful. Skinningrove is a small village but Kasane the local restaurant is a few feet away, and the food was fantastic, but be warned the portions are large. The cottage was clean and surprisingly large. The bed was very comfortable. We literally parked at the little front gate. There is a bus stop just feet away, although we did not use it. One of the major plusses was the local people, both in the village and in the restaurant, all very friendly. The beach is a short walk away and there is a small park a few yards away, A nice little cottage for those with kids or dogs.

The enclosed garden was a bonus, and would be a lovely place to sit in warmer months. So dog friendly too. Our Staffie loved it. Ideally placed for walking to Skinningrove beach, and for venturing out in the car along the coast to Whitby, visiting the smaller seaside towns, or exploring the little villages over the moors. The Kaskane restaurant is dog friendly too. We can definitely recommend their regular and vegetarian breakfasts, and their evening meals.
