The former fishing village of Skinningrove sits on the Cleveland Way, and offers visitors a collection of quaint cottages, a selection of shops and a pub, as well as a sandy beach. Ideally placed for visiting attractions such as the Abbey and harbour at Whitby, the village of Staithes, pretty Runswick Bay and the rest of the coast, the village is also a good base for exploring the dramatic scenery of the North York Moors National Park, making it a great location for all the family.

Three delightful, single storey cottages in a courtyard setting of five properties, in a quiet location in the coastal village of Skinningrove. These Skinningrove cottages have been built on the site of the original stables which housed the pit-ponies serving the old mine in the village, and have been thoughtfully designed, decorated and furnished to offer very comfortable, contemporary accommodation. Outside, the cottages share a communal garden area with lawned and gravelled areas, ideal for sharing an evening drink. Close to the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum and Cleveland Way National Trail, and within easy reach of the beautiful moors and coastal countryside around, these lovely Skinningrove cottages make a great base for exploring the area, including the picturesque villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay, and the historic town of Whitby.

The locals are very friendly and gave a lot of local information on the history of Skinningrove. The beach was empty except at the weekend when lots of hikers were walking the Cleveland Way. A lot of space to walk and a good base for visiting North Yorkshire and Cleveland.

We liked that the cottage was absolutely spotless on arrival, despite the fact that dogs are allowed. It makes an excellent start to the holiday.
The fact that we could walk to the beach for daily "walkies" was a bonus.
