  • "A delightfully cosy cottage set in a beautiful village."

A lovely place to relax whether indoors or in the garden watching the local wildlife. We really didn’t want to leave. Hopefully we will return again one day.

The house had a well stocked kitchen( so rare in holiday cottages!) and we were left a lovely welcome package. It was also wonderful to watch the birds on the bird feeders every morning! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for your lovely review and I am delighted you had such an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

  • "We found the cottage to be comfortable, we enjoyed our stay there but weren't aware of some of the height restrictions in the living room area also the bathroom and the upper area leading to the bedrooms."

We are stating this as we are a tall family and found we bumped our heads if not paying attention. We soon got used to being aware of these areas.in fairness there was notices mind your head around but we weren't aware of this when booking the cottage we still had a good holiday in this very old beautiful cottage. A pretty village . Nice walk to Osmotherley only half an hour away. Lovely gardens in the cottage. Cosy and comfortable beds and most things there that you need.

Thank you for your review. I will inform Sykes to mention the low beams, I do hope you didn’t bump your heads too much!!! I’m only 5’2” so the height is not a problem for me and that’s why there are “Mind your head” signs up. However, I’m pleased you found the cottage cosy and comfortable and enjoyed your stay. • "We had an amazing week at the cottage…."

It’s setting is so tranquil with a lovely garden where you can relax and hear only the sheep bleating in the background. We were left a lovely welcome hamper, thank you (!) and the cottage is so cosy, with everything you need, and the most comfy bed! It may be in a little secluded for some, but that was part of the appeal for us. It’s a 25 min walk into Osmotherly, which has a couple of nice pubs and great fish and chip shop. We didn’t want to come away and can’t wait to return….

Thank you Carol for your wonderful feedback. It is always lovely to hear that guests have had an enjoyable stay, especially after all the recent renovations and landscaping to the garden. Greatly appreciated. Property Owner

  • "Only one spare loo roll which meant we had to buy more after two days ."

The outside light didn’t work and when did, went off after ten minutes. There was a leak from bathroom through the ceiling, which we reported. It meant we were afraid to use the bathroom. Nice cottage but those things made it not as good as advertised.

Thank you for your feedback, I have spoken to the cleaning company and they have confirmed 2 loo rolls were left in each bathroom so unsure why only 1 was visable to you. With regards to the light going off after 10 minutes and not working, this is a sensor light, you need to turn the switch on and it turns off after a short while if not in proximity. The bathroom leak we have not had any reports from the current guests and there appear to be no problems with the bathroom. Thank you for leaving this feedback it helps us improve our service for future guests. Property Owner

  • "Webstone House is a gorgeous cottage in a stunning part of Yorkshire."

The cottage has a lovely homely feel, is well equipped and very well located for getting around North Yorkshire. I spent many a happy moment watching all the different birds, from tiny Robins, stunning Pheasants to the village Peacock wandering down the lane. The Gardens are lovely and the whole place is peaceful, its a real sanctuary wasted if you are planning to just sleep and go - I recommend time is taken in between days out to stay 'home' and enjoy the cottage and amble around in Thimbleby, or walk up to Osmotherly, its all delightful. There is Clay Shooting near by but I didn't find the gunshot sound intrusive and wasn't happening all the time. The Host was friendly and quick to respond to any concerns I had.

Dear Christine Thank you for your lovely feedback and I know how much you enjoyed your stay at Webstone House as you extended your stay for a further 2 weeks. I totally agree that some days must be spent just soaking up the tranquility of the cottage and it’s surroundings, watching the wildlife especially!!!!. I know we spoke a few times, but I’d like to thank you for the favour you did for me in reading my meter and taking photos that I could pass on to my energy supplier. I wish you all the best in finding yourself a property up in Yorkshire! Kindest regards Victoria Property Owner

  • "The cottage is amazing giving one a feel of times gone by , with all the modern conveniences ."

The Bedrooms are large and comfortable and the snug and frontroom give plenty of space to relax. As for the garden well the patio part gives ample space , then you have the orchard , both are a sun trap . Placed in the midst of the Moore and Dale's there is plenty to see . Osmotherly's chip shop is well worth a try . Rievaulx Abbey, Herriot museum, Aysgarth falls , Hawes and Wensley creamery are a must . There was when we stayed a fair amount of wildlife , an Owl and stoat visited in the night and on the feeder there was plenty of activity.

  • "Everything exceeded our expectations except the directions."

These were not very useful at all because there was no indication whatsoever as to where the directions were from. In fact they were from the centre of Northallerton but inasmuch as no normal route would take you there it was very confusing. The cottage is the first on the right as you enter the village from the A19. It took us about an hour to find the cottage. Everything else was fantastic with many local amenities at Northallerton, Thirsk and more locally at Osmotherly.

Thank you for your lovely feedback after your stay at Webstone House and I’m glad everything exceeded your expectations. I am only sorry you had trouble with the directions. Next visit you’ll know where it is!. Kind regards Victoria Property Owner

Would have been helpful to have freezer turned on before arrival due to frozen food in shopping delivery on night of arrival. Stair get would be recommended at top of stairs but only as have a young child. Owner did say could take one however didn't want to damage the walls by trying fit it. Garden and house lovely and well equipped. Good location for exploring.

  • "A lovely location, excellent for hiking, visiting the many places of interest in the area (Ryedale Folk Museum a real highlight, also North Yorks Railway) and local towns - Northallerton an excellent shopping centre, Helmsley, an interesting and pleasant centre)."

Coast perfectly accessible. Osmotherly (always very busy, cars parked everywhere - great sympathy for the villagers) just 10 minutes away - local shop for papers. Cottage ideal for our party of 2 couples - the arrangement of one bathroom and downstairs shower room, while not ideal, was perfectly workable. The cottage is well equipped and nicely decorated, good quality furniture, nice prints on the wall etc - spotless. A welcome of biscuits, bottle of wine - nice touch. Gardens front and back - nice sitting area. Clearly an excellent owner. More generally, we found this a beautiful area, stunning scenery, amazing villages 'all of a piece', great examples of venacular architecture of the 18th century - largely 'estate houses' - there are many grand manor houses in the area (including Thimberly Hall). Highly recommended.

  • "Our biggest issue was the heating, which when we arrived was set to night mode a miserly 16 degrees which was far too cold when we have a 3 month old baby & it stated next to all the dials do not change."

Also rather disappointingly the washing machine was not working properly - the water did not actually flush the powder out of the drawer. One of the reasons we chose this property was that it had a washing machine as we have 2 young children. Another issue was the cleanliness of the place. The rug in the lounge was thick with dog hairs and dog hairs everywhere which again with a young baby is less than ideal, and not acceptable.

  • "This is a lovely, warm and cosy cottage with the added bonus of 4 little ponies as the neighbours!"

It was a well equipped kitchen which made it great for enjoying meals together. Our almost 2 year old loved collecting apples from the garden. Outside the kitchen window was an active bird feeder which was calming to watch. There was a very nice welcome package. It's very useful having the bathroom downstairs to supplement the one upstairs. Great location for walks, trips to the North York Moors (we went to Whitby bay and Robins Hood bay - great day trip) whilst being close to the conveniences of North Allerton (Betty's tea rooms there is lovely). We did a trip to Thorp Perrow (arboretum, kids playground, birds of prey and mammal centre) and the Forbidden Corner (absolutely amazing maze, with sculptures and labyrinths - strongly recommended!). The only improvement is that we didn't find a clothes horse we could use indoors so it made a bit tricky to dry clothes after washing them. Thank you for such a lovely stay!
