Location: Thornton-le-moor

Thirsk 5 miles; Northallerton 5 miles.

The peaceful village of Thornton-le-Moor sits between the historic towns of Thirsk and Northallerton, at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas, the Wiske and the Cod Beck, in an area of natural beauty on the edge of the Vale of York, between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales. With considerable history dating back to Roman times, the old village is basically two rows of brick built houses, reflecting the rich architecture of the Georgian and Victorian period. The Black Swan is the local pub serving fine ales and excellent food. The market town of Northallerton offers excellent shops and a weekly market, whilst Thirsk boasts a famous racecourse, a cobbled market square and quaint alleyways awash with teashops and lovely little delicatessens. With the cathedral cities of York and Ripon also within easy reach, this great area has something for everyone.

Previous visitors' comments about Swift Nick:

The personal touches were fantastic, everything was provided so no need to worry if you have forgot something ie, toothbrush, toothpaste, umbrella and hot water bottle! Things you may not think you would need were also there, for example, bathrobes, slippers and even a selection of toiletries! The owner has thought of everything and should be very proud of what she has achieved!
Mrs Leighton, Washington, November 2011

Wonderful views over the Yorkshire countryside, peaceful but close to market towns.
Mr McCarthy, Melton Mowbray, September 2011

The reception was a 5* plus as was the cottage itself. Never before have we had such a wonderful cottage and the icing on the cake was the welcome pack.
Mr Hanson, Lincoln, June 2011
