The village of Danby nestles in the beautiful and peaceful Esk Valley in the heart of The North York Moors. The village has two pubs (both serving food), a bakery and tearooms. There is also an excellent National Park Visitor Centre at Danby Lodge – an historic building set in 13 acres of riverside pasture, with facilities which include exhibitions, nature trails and tearooms. Danby also boasts the ruins of a 14th century castle and the only remaining working water mill on the River Esk. The scenic Esk Valley Railway line runs through the village on its way to Whitby. The quaint moorland villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham, the market town of Pickering, the City of York and the Yorkshire Coast villages of Staithes, Saltburn and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy touring distance.

The property has been created from the skilful conversion of old farm buildings and is attached to the owners’ 17th century farmhouse. It is set in a delightful walled garden and has a south facing cobbled courtyard with garden furniture. Inside, the accommodation is comfortable and well-equipped and is tastefully furnished and decorated throughout. An ideal retreat at any time of the year and a great place to combine a country and seaside holiday.
Three bedrooms: 1 x double with TV and wonderful views over Moors, 2 x twin. Bathroom with bath (with electric shower over), washbasin and WC. Ground floor cloakroom with washbasin and WC. Well equipped fitted kitchen with spacious dining area with window seat overlooking courtyard. Sitting room with open fire and French doors leading to south facing cobbled courtyard.
Heating from electric storage heaters and additional heating from open fire in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine (in separate shared utility), dishwasher, 2 x colour TVs, DVD player, CD player etc. Free wireless broadband. Power & starter pack for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Cot and highchair by request. Sunny courtyard with garden furniture and use of owners' large enclosed garden. Off road parking for 2 cars. Well behaved pet welcome at £10 charge. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 2 miles and pub 5 mins walk.

The village was lovely and the cottage was well placed for both tourist attractions by day and within walking distance of two nice pubs in the evening. The garden was excellent for a young family. The owners very friendly!
