Location: Runswick Bay

Staithes 2 miles; Whitby 9 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 10 miles.

Runswick Bay, with its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, is one of the gems of the East Coast. This picturesque old fishing village, situated 9 miles from Whitby, nestles in a small bay, backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. The village is unspoilt and uncommercialised, with cars restricted from the village, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Holidaymakers will enjoy exploring the cobbled, twisting alleyways, the lovely sandy beach - well known for fossil hunting - and the cliff-top walks, including the Cleveland Way. The village houses three local inns, all serving food, and one tearoom, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides a village shop. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting seaside towns such as Whitby, with its famous Abbey, or touring the dramatic North York Moors.

Previous visitors' comments about Apartment 1 Runswick Lodge:

The personal warm welcome from the owner with his detailed information on the area was very much appreciated. The flowers, wine, tea, coffee and biscuits were a lovely touch. The apartment was decorated and equipped to the highest standard.
Mrs Parkinson, Rugby, September 2011

Most of our party were new to the area and we all thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and countryside although the very steep hills down to the bays were a surprise. The apartment was an ideal base to explore from, very well equipped and comfortable. We were warmly received and the 'welcome pack' was greatly appreciated. Note for others visiting the area - there is no mobile phone reception in or around Runswick Bay. The apartment owner ensured we had access to a landline in case of emergencies.
Mrs Taylor, Knutsford, August 2011

We had a very wet week and the wonderful facilities were a godsend with two grandchildren.
Mrs Jennings, Shipley, August 2011

The holiday was fantastic. There was nothing that we didn't like.
Mrs Jeffries, Ossett, July 2011
